Colorado Rockies 1976
Cory is now tied for 7th in save% (.921). Also has a pretty good .692 save% in shootouts too. Devils have actually won two out of their last three shootouts...maybe the worm is finally starting to turn a little, where this team can win roughly half of its shootouts for a while. Just really happy for Cory. He had his share of doubters and critics early on, and he's shutting them all up. And his showing everyone what he can do (even for a mediocre team like the Devils) is one huge reason why I'm glad Marty wasn't brought back. Because we just KNOW that, after Cory had three tough games in October that gave him an .898 save% overall after his first six starts, PDB would've given Marty an extended look in net, and we would've heard something along the lines of "How great it is to have two #1-types, Cory will be fine, but Marty's waited six games to get his chance, blah blah blah..." With Marty not being here, and Clemmensen being the early back-up, and the Devils needing wins, PDB didn't have much choice but to stick with Cory and let him adjust to a different workload and let him work through some issues (some of them were just rotten luck)...and he's now thriving. Anyway, what we're seeing is that this guy simply stops pucks, and can be counted on to do it at a top-10 rate. Makes me look forward to see what he can do with a better team in front of him. BostonNala370
Great win. Larsson doing great with these coaches, he has confidence, he is not afraid to making a mistake and being benched for two weeks. Too bad Severson is still 2 to 3 weeks away. dmann422
Cory is a beast, just keeps is in game after game. Also gelinas IMO is showing more with every game that he is not an nhl defenseman. Good for Larsson and patty finally scoring a SO goal.
EdgeControl
thanks cory! I miss clarksy falling down. he had some nice ones last night, like the shot that never happened in the slot that was funny. and carrying along the left half board his pass between the legs was sweet though
mort4345
Great to get the W, but the Devils aren't going to win many games playing like they did tonight. But on a bright note, how about that Larsson character?
mfitz804
But on a bright note, how about that Larsson character? I've really been liking his play since the coaching change.
DevsMan84
Last night was a snoozefest and barely paid attention to it. Whenever Ryder is out of the lineup I never really notice at all. Shows how friggin useless he is and thank god we only have to take him for the rest of this season. Larsson has def stepped it up since the coaching change. Looks like that #4 pick is starting to pan out real nicely. Good for him and the Devils. Also saw the Impratical Jokers were there during the 2nd intermission to do a punishment against Sal and Q (Q is a known Devils fan and has been to a few games over the past 2 years). They had the 2 put on goalie pads and defend one of the nets while Colin White and Grant Marshall were taking full-on slap shots against them. Can't wait to see it on TV!
