I guess you didn't attend any games in 1982, 83, 84, 85, 86. You have no idea what really bad Devils' hockey is like. Another thing, the fans were always supportive and none of this bitching and moaning crap.

I don't want to hear anything about how they have 3 Cups and other instances of the difference now. Bullcrap! Most fans are spoiled and they need to get over it. The constant whining and the sky is falling Chicken Little crap gets old really fast. It is beyond tiring to sift through threads to skip over it. 100 posts and 5 are decent, maybe.

It is different though...in the early years of '82-86 fans were just happy to have a team. Just like Met fans in the '60's didn't give a crap how badly the team lost cause they loved having baseball back. You're not going to get those days of innocence back now, it's a different ball of wax. Especially with the internet and talk radio now (that didn't exist back then), that just feeds the beast when the team stinks.

And we laughed at these kind of seasons when the Rangers were having them (big money, underachieving roster), now it's happening to us.

37 Shots, Halak with a bad day obviously....where to start? Ok we did better. But it's again not enough and its frustrating.

Let the goal be uncounted where McKenna had (or had not, i couldnt really figure it out 100% at the replay) the puck, it's a 2-2 thing. But the games over once more.

I don't know... let's just hope for a W against the caps on monday :saddevil:

If the Devils come out and play with the same jump and creativity in the next game, I'll be satisfied. My expectations have been cut way back. Sweet goal by Tedenby.

This is pretty much why I'm not ranting and raving with each new loss. I've more or less resigned myself to the fact this is a lost year, as far as being competitive goes. Sometimes this happens, where it just doesn't come together, and it happens to good organizations, good GMs...doesn't make it any less easy or fun to watch, but every team goes through it at some point.

I'm not so much concerned about right now as I am about the future. As a Devils fan who's also a huge Johnny Mac fan, I'd love to see him grow into the job, and get the chance to do it, but he seems so overwhelmed...I feel badly for him. Part of me thinks he should be let go even though it's only 20 games, but I look at this roster and the complete lack of chemistry and wonder who could possibly get much out of this group?

Did you watch the game? He was making plays happen, creating chances and taking shots!

I dont want him to make plays, create chances, and take shots..... I want him to score goals. Just like Steven Stamkos and Rick Nash!

Wrong. My family were STH's from 1984-2000. I like how judgmental we get here. Obviously, you haven't read prior posts i've made here where i said that we supported those bad teams because we accepted them for who they were, they worked hard, were good guys and they were loveable losers.

This organization has not had a crash and burn of this effect, ever, based on the talent and expectations of the roster.

To compare this roster to any of the 80's rosters and compare the failure is absurd.

To those who have never experienced a sports crash and burn, you're going to get educated. That was the context of my post which i am guessing you comprehended wrong.

No, I don't read every post on this forum and have no intention of doing so. I was a STH from 10/5/82 until I could no longer attend games some 20+ years later. This team works hard, are good guys but are not accepted. Comparison of BAD is not absurd. That is my point. They aren't playing BAD now. Maybe they aren't getting the breaks and the injuries don't help however they are not playing BAD. Those early years they were playing BAD hockey. I guess you didn't comprehend.

No it isn't different. Read my reply above. We have injuries out the wahzooo! No line is intact and no one has a chance to get some chemistry built before a player is hurt and a new player is in the game, sometimes nightly. There is no acceptance of the circumstances. Fans are spoiled. As for your comparison, I cannot agree but you are entitled. I would think a comparison to the Isles since they have been injury laden in the past, to be more reasonable. If we had a full squad with no injuries and produced these results the fans would be jumping off bridges, literally. There is a bigger picture to view. Am I happy with our record? No, however I can accept it just like I accepted the early years. There is more to winning games than a few players with large salaries. I think you know where I am coming from. You know me a really long time. That could be a bad thing. ;)

Then before you cast arrogant judgments and ride in on your high horse, you should.

The breaks and injuries are now excuses. Every team in the league is a victim of injuries and victims of breaks at some point. Simple truth is, this team does not have the character and fortitiude to fight through it and strengthen as a unit under adversity like past seasons. Worst part is, they have more talent now then they had in those seasons when you legitimately thought they were finished.

This team is not playing 60 minutes of hockey no matter who is in the lineup. That's one problem. Another problem is their lack of finishing. We could go on with special teams and the defense, too. This is going to be a flawed team even when healthy.

You are what your record says you are. Working hard goes only so far in pro sports.

Did they deserve to win last night and prior nights they were victims of circumstance? Sure. Some years, you aren't going to no matter what. But, after looking at it, they were at fault on the Winchester goal. Obviously, someone forgot to tell this group YOU PLAY UNTIL YOU HEAR A WHISTLE! They all stood around and took for granted the offical would blow the whistle with the puck under McKenna.

Nope, no need to.

One big list of excuses using your logic. Injuries are facts not excuses. Revolving teammates are facts not excuses. They don't have strength and fortitude? LOL then they should be making a career change, all of them with no exceptions. btw I don't hang a lot on stats, of any nature but then if you have read all my posts, as you want me to with yours, you would know that. :D

Injuries are facts, but they become excuses after awhile if you let them. I didn't see the Rags use Gaborik and Drury injuries as an excuse.

I'll leave your second comment about a career change speak of itself
