I think this image sums up the Devils 2011-2012 season and our current position in the standings.

Hahaha. Dude it's so true. Just 4 days ago this team was jusssssssst about to have a break through it seems..now they're just losing confidence with losses like these. If us as fans know they can't hang with top teams, then they know it too. Hence...Brodeur: "We’ve got to figure out something to get ourselves to play better against top teams.”

Guess what? Lou is not a superhero. It was lip service and a nice quote - but that's all it is.

He has no more control than any other GM - trying to get the right pieces to make things work.

He can help that the team didn't suck for 3 years to get #1 picks.

All Teams lose, all franchises transition.

There's no magic fountain in NJ.

NJ isn't immune.

Yeah but there was a core philosophy to the Devils until a couple of seasons ago. We were known as a disciplined team that played 60 minutes each game with a defense first mindset. Now we're just poop.

I don't know why people think the Devils should be winning every game. It's just not a top level team right now. It's a middle of the road team, and middle of the road teams win some nights, they lose some nights. They win games they shouldn't, and they lose games they should've won, and sometimes they get their butts kicked soundly.

No one is thinking they should win every game, but can they at least more often than not play with passion, hunger and a sense of urgency, especially in front of your home audience? Against teams with missing key players? Is that too much to ask?

And they got their butts kicked soundly twice in a row at home and 3 times in less than 2 weeks.

I second this.

With all due respect, this dude makes these GDT's really annoying.

He pisses and rants if we lose to a team we "weren't supposed to lose to" - like the world is ending.

He pisses and moans that we're pathetic if we lose to elite teams - even if we put up a competitive effort.

Folks here have tried to say it in "nice" ways, "chill out", "try to relax", "I'm worried about your health".... now its just getting annoying.

If you can't handle a loss don't watch the games - teams lose - its understandable to be upset. We're all big fans and upset - but please try to find a more productive way to vent it.

Sorry - just had to be said.

Hey don't be sorry. Just block me because if I haven't stopped yet I'm probably not going to stop. This team isn't playing with a bunch of nobodies..I know our 3rd line is a little sketchy right now and our 4th line is a joke but sorry the team should make more of an impact than this against top teams. Thats the only point I'm trying to make with the rants. If they're not winning a game 2-0 in the 3rd an managing to blow it, they're completely dominated a game and getting out scored 4-1. It's just not something I can tolerate and be happy with as a NJ Devils fan.

To be fair, the Ducks are on a hot streak.

It's great to know that we're hemorraging money. I wonder why we have terrible attendance?

Oh yeah, that's right: Good product=Butts in seats.

I wouldn't call our attendance "terrible", compared to other teams in pro sports, some who have been better than us recently. Just not that good. But after the last 2 games don't be surprised if they get 11,000 at best on Tuesday.

They lost my money that's for sure. I was going to go to the Rangers game, no way in HELL that's going to happen. I'm not spending $100+ to sit there, get heckled by Ranger fans in my own building, hear chants of Marty, and watch us either get shut out or score 1 goal. Sorry, call me a bad fan..I'm just not into that. At the end of the night I'll end up just getting escorted out by security or even worse.

The attendance hasn't been that bad this year though believe it or not but I bet overall since they moved to Newark it is down substantially.

Nope. They've averaged over 15,000 since the move which is over 1,000 more than their last 2 years at the dump when they were actually good.

So they've averaged more since moving to Newark? Yet still 26th in the league. Jeez.

They aren't a very good team, the product on the ice does not justify the insane ticket prices and their marketing/fan relations while improving is still one of the worst in the league. And even if they sold out almost every game they'd still be in the bottom half of attendance.

The Devils haven't drawn below 12,000 all year, and Tuesday's one of the 'value' priced games (I refuse to use the 30th Anniversary designation lol). Today was one of the premium games, and yet another game that would have been a sellout last year fell way short because of it.

Plus even 'after the last two games' the Devils are still in playoff position. They are what we (or at least the sensible ones of us) thought they were. I admit for a moment when we were ahead against Boston thinking maybe the Devils will make the playoffs without a real struggle again, but no - they're exactly what their play says they've been for most of the season: A slightly above average team that's going to struggle to make the playoffs, if they do. Losing two of your top four defenseman and your top defensive forward doesn't exactly help when the weakness of your team was already...defense.

Since November they've been fine overall, beating the teams they're supposed to beat and on the same level with for the most part while losing to the teams better than them. They have a poor record against the top four...who exactly thought the Devils WERE a top four team going into the season? Or now for that matter?

:blahblah:

Everyone being pissed at each other here because of what the team did is just silly.

If you don't play with the team, or work for them, then STFU already.

What's even more annoying than all of "the sky is falling" rants after looses is the group of the usual suspects bitching and moaning at each other about each other's posts. These GDT's should start being locked immediately after the game if the Devil's loose, since there's a gaggle of you guys who are too immature to have an intelligent discussion about how other people whom you have no control over are performing.

Anyway, I'm completely baffled at the Foster stuff. I don't know what you guys are seeing, but it's not what's actually occuring on the ice and the Prudential Center. Crazy.

What ever amount you are baffled by the Foster stuff, I am ten times more baffled about you being baffled about people thinking Foster sucks. He is just really bad. Do you not blame him at all for the first goal. Do you not think his play on the empty net goal was bad either?

He's not good, but he's not bad either. And I already talked about what I saw with Foster today, much earlier.

Of course he takes a little blame for the first goal against, but to blame it completely on him is just silly.

And them blaming him for an empty net goal that another player gave up and a second player was closer too? You're nuts. More accurately, you're emotionally blinded and looking for an easy scapegoat.

It is the same person(s) provoking it every single loss. I have used the ignore feature, but you still see it as everyone will quote them, try to calm them down, etc.

It is just like DinLA said: annoying.

The only thing that I can see assigning him blame to directly is the empty net goal. Even there though (after watching the highlights again), where the hell was Kovy when he originally lost that puck to Simmonds? Why the hell couldn't he handle the later on either, after Foster missed it?

You guys are blatantly scapegoating Foster and it's ridiculous.

And thanks for mentioning Fayne. Talk about someone who played a sh!tty game... you're panning Foster but are willing to give Fayne a pass after he made a handful of absolutely egregious errors throughout the whole game? Gimme a break. There's zero credibility to any of the comments in this thread.

bah, whatever. I give up.

I'm gonna treat this thread like I'm treating the game. One to leave in the rear view mirror.

Time to move on.

Is this guy SatansDevil reincarnated with instead of his hate for Mottau, it's Fayne? All we need is the OOT scoreboard and we got the same guy for sure.

I don't hate Fayne.

Anyway, I'm exhausted (and I'm obviously too tired to pull my punches like I probably should be doing right now).

See you guys later.

I was never the biggest Mottau fan myself, but do you remember anything specifically bad that Fayne did this game? I don't remember him sticking out as one of our better players today, but I also cannot remember an instance where he really messed up, aside from a couple times he couldn't keep the puck in the PHI zone, but even that is sometimes unavoidable.

I am hoping Taormina can keep proving himself and take Foster's spot on the first unit, but I think the team is quite far from doing that.

I know some people here disagree, but I still see scoring as our main problem. We dominate games on a regular basis, but consistently have trouble putting the puck in the net. Whereas the top tier teams only need a handful of opportunities to score.. Our PP was horrible the first 30 games of the season, before it started to show some small glimpses of improvement. Hopefully they can keep building on the progress we have seen. Our goaltending is obviously not as strong as we're used to, but I don't think we can blame Marty for any of the recent losses.

There emo levels in the GDTs after losses are certainly through the roof lately. If we could consistently beat teams like the Bruins, Flyers and Rangers, we'd be the best team in the league. We're not even close to that. I think our games against the Bruins have been "ok"ish actually. We've competed well, dominated play for extended periods of time. But unlike us, they immediately take advantage when they get the opportunity. We just don't have their depth and scoring prowess. (Or goaltending, or defensemen.. :P)

Anyway. We're headed for the playoffs. Hopefully we'll have a new PP coach and a healthy squad by then. :D
