thefiestygoat
I definitely liked what I saw out of Matteau tonight. Hopefully he can build on this.
cgb6397
Matteau looked like he's been in the game for a few years. Now let's see what he can do against an NHL team
Onddeck
still not where we need to be but a win is a win. i liked teddy, but honestly didnt really see enough from Matteau to judge. but i agree greene wasn't where he needs to be but everyone else looked alright. a little sloppy but i can only hope we have a new forward by Tuesday to feel comfortable. CarpathianForest
We lead the NHL in points!!!111 So will 16 other teams by tomorrow night. The team is definitely out of shape. They really need to work on their stamina. CBGB looking like they haven't missed a step.
Prucenterrules
Solid way to start the season with a win. I think Tedenby played excellent tonight. He was hard on the forecheck and set up some good plays and had an assist. Matteau looked good but need to see more of him. Seems like tuesday will be his kind of game. Marty was Marty. Kovy Zajac Zubrus seemed to have some good chemistry which is good for us.

CBGB looking like they haven't missed a step. It's a glorified pre-season game and their most fit player is playing on his wrong-side wing. DaneykoIsGod
That's probably the best game I've seen Teddy play.
Devilsfan118
Hopefully he (teddy) can keep it up and maintain a constantly strong game.
NJDevs4978
That's probably the best game I've seen Teddy play. It's at least the best since Lemaire was the coach...we'll see if it's just a product of him being one of the few guys 'game-ready' soon enough though. SterioDesign
Great win. I really like Teddy, that line seems so hard to play against Teddy is all over the place like a buttered naked guy he's slippery lol
MadDog2020
That's probably the best game I've seen Teddy play. I agree. It seemed liked he had some good chemistry with Elias and Clarkson too. Hope he keeps it up.
caron14
Tedenby was good... i dont want to be negative but i dont know if he could be that good agaisnt phisycal team like the flyers. I hope but im not sure
Devils Dose
Great start to the season! I found a cool bar here in Atlanta to watch the game, and was a fun one. It wasn't the best-looking performance ever, but it's two pts. I'm hoping to see Larsson out there soon, don't want the young defenseman sitting. Colin226
Anyone else totally impressed with the Devils fan presence at the game? It was like 50% red on TV and ppl there are saying we had 3,000 to 4,000 fans there
sassquash
Just got back from the game. Lots of Devil fans in attendance. Section I was in (120) was at least 60/40 (if not more) Devil fans.
ghdi
Biggest downside to me was Volchenkov. Greene righted his ship a bit, but man, Anton was awful.
NJDevs4978
I'm shocked how many people are harping on Greene, he did make a couple of nice defensive plays. If any of the defensemen were bad it was Volch. So much for his playoff 'injury' hindering him
nessus
A win is a win, but I'm still very nervous about these lines. Surely Matteau won't be on the team for much more of the year. Despite Clarkson's good game, I'm not certain I like him on the second line now. Tedenby showed some great offense tonight, but I still need to see some more of his defensive game before I can form a fair opinion on what I think of him. I would like to see a bit more 5 on 5 time from Josefson. He's a very smart player, but it didn't seem like he had all that many opportunities tonight. I could be wrong about that, though. MadDog2020
Tom Gulitti @TGfireandice Brodeur on Clarkson: “I told him, ‘If you want to score 30 you’ve got to score one today.’ He scored, so he told me he’s on pace for 48 now” Lmfao. Triumph
Josefson has hardly skated all week - limiting him was a good move. He didn't get much 5 on 5 time but he got time on the PP and the PK. Liked what Matteau brought - had a few rookie foul ups but I liked the energy, he didn't try to do too much. Stephen Gionta cannot be playing 15 minutes a night at the NHL level though, something has to be done to nip that in the bud.
Triumph
It's a glorified pre-season game and their most fit player is playing on his wrong-side wing. Kovalchuk isn't moving back to LW with DeBoer as coach (unless there are major injuries, and even then only maybe).
iamtheprodigy
Pleasantly surprised by Matteau tonight. Said he was nervous but he looked pretty confident out there. Couple missed passes and minor mistakes, but no really poor decisions that I saw. Kept it simple. Used his size well for his age. Looks like he'll be a pretty solid bottom 6 forward for us very soon, if not this year.
mouse
Stephen Gionta cannot be playing 15 minutes a night at the NHL level though, something has to be done to nip that in the bud. Why not? He didn't do anything wrong, nor has he in his progressively larger sample size. He was solid on the PK, his line established a solid forecheck, he has chemistry with Bernier and Carter, and he won a huge faceoff at the end. I see him as a below average 3rd liner or an elite 4th liner, but I see no reason he can't play decent NHL minutes. Surely Matteau won't be on the team for much more of the year. I'd like to see him play on a line without Cam before I judge him. If he plays with Josefson and Clarkson and does well, I don't see why he can't stick around. He's certainly better than the guys we have in the AHL. Now, if we bring in a decent forward and he's gonna be riding the pine, that's a different story.
