DevilMinder
By the way, I just got back from a friends so don't see my sudden appearance in this thread as a support for the shootout abomination.

NYGDevils32
The Devils are usually the better shootout team (more skilled). But that wasn't the case tonight... Edited December 20, 2006 by NYGDevils32

Devil Fan
We lose!!!! We gave up 2 SH goals to Hossa. Unacceptable and we should be happy to have 1 pt, especially the Rangers lose.
MrQuotes
its not our pp didnt give us 2 goals in return so i dont really know wat to make of it

insanity_gallops
top goal scorers: Hossa, Shanahan, Ovechkin. At the beginning of the season, who would have listed all 3 as in-the-running?
Triumph
Record of home team when electing to shoot first: 19-21 (0.475)Record of home team when electing to shoot second: 12-9 (0.571) Record of team shooting first: 28-33 (0.459) Record of team shooting second: 33-28 (0.541) http://jeays.net/shootout/miscellaneous.htm Over time, this should normalize to 50-50 - there is no inherent advantage to shooting first. Whatever the case - a good game by the Devils, but too many shorthanded chances for Atlanta. Brodeur wasn't very strong, either - well, he was, but the Hossa 2nd goal seemed to fool him. Good to see Oduya finally get his first, and Rafalski get into the play. Elias-Gomez-Gionta mystifies me. I have no idea what they are doing on the ice half the time. Jim Dowd has to stop taking stupid penalties - this is the third game in 4 where he has taken a silly hooking or holding penalty that has nothing to do with the play - it's infuriating. He should sit for a game - throw LaCouture out there.
themiddle91489
That was an insanely quiet shootout fans-wise. No noise at all when Gionta was going to the net.
MrQuotes
i still hold heavily against shooting second but watever... the pp doenst give me great concern because it played very well. just that we had 2 SHG, but remember how they got that first one, some bullsh!t. i dont know this game doesnt really put me one way or the other, but i do wish they could maintain that good home ice record a little better. MadDog2020
We didn't lose in the shoot-out. I think it's plain to see we lost because we gave up 2 more short-handed goals. It's unacceptable and it has to stop. It's becoming a big problem. At least we got a point, but we should've had 2.
HellOnICE
I get a feeling that Julien won't last the season. His inability to get the team up and going consistently is a problem that Lou never had. I feel like Lou might put himself back behind the bench or get mr. Burns to return. This team is performing similarly to Larry's. Not as bad, but close enough. One step forward, one step back.
elias2600
more dropped points that we had in our hands... hossa is awesome, but his first goal is bullsh!t.

American_Psycho
I was there tonight...sharing a row with another fan with an Oduya jersey (thought I was the only one for now ). We both went nuts when he scored that goal, haha. Anyways, it was a very winnable game. These SHG's are ridiculous, and I almost strained my neck from throwing it up in the air everytime I saw Hossa on a damn breakaway. Oh well, there are worse nights to only come out of the game with 1 point.
