#NJDevils job. The silence of Mike Eaves is deafening in Madison. No denials, no happy to be in Madtown statements coming from him.

George Falkowski (sp) of News12NJ is reporting on tonight's sports report that Mike Eaves could be named coach as early as Tuesday. No guarantee as Craig Ramsey is supposedly still in the mix, but he thinks it will be Eaves.

i watch news 12 a lot and for some reason falkowski is accurate a majority of the time.... but who knows

The fact that nobody can get in touch with him is a really good sign. I'd be happy with him. A die-hard Rangers friend of mine loves Eaves and was telling me how pissed he'd be if we got him. Seems like he has a great reputation and resume.

I hardly consider Brent Sutter's time here a failure, so that's 1 for 2 since the lockout. Sutter was handed the worst team the Devils have iced in some time and made the playoffs.

I'd be just fine with Eaves as coach - he has a long track record and he could be here for a while.

That doesn't make any sense. John MacLean's struggles have no effect on this year's coach, rookie or not. You're saying that no rookie coaches can ever have success, which simply isn't true.

FWIW, just read over on HF that as of today, Eaves has denied having any contact with the Devils.

Which would make perfect sense since if you want to work with Lou Lamoriello you don't talk to the press about it. So how long before he signs.

let's face it ... in Lou I'm not so sure I trust when it comes to coaches. There just isn't anything out there is the thing of it all.

I still want DeBoer, as he has NHL experience, is young (meaning he could be a long-term solution), and I put no stock in the fact that he couldn't do anything in Florida, because no one can ever do anything in Florida.
