And maybe if people weren't complete dicks and didn't treat an accidental thread like a breach in national security it wouldn't be a concern either...this board's been JUST FINE for almost ten years now without needing it....it seems silly to need one now

I agree. This new rule is about as necessary as having other sports threads be hidden in its own subforum instead of the general off-topic forum...which is not at all. I will fight to the death for the abolishment of The Locker Room!!!

I don't think specifically you. This seems to happen here every summer. New folks join to create discussion, but there is not much to discuss in the summer. These somewhat forced threads irritate the newbie police.

I realize that I'm new here, and I certainly don't want to come across as the complaining newbie, but...
This sucks.

I'm happy to have (finally) been "verified" and all, cause I actually want to be a member here, but man the culture on this board sure does come across as "insular". But whatever... this is from the guy with < 10 posts, so take it for what it's worth.

New users should at least be able to post in the "Introductions" sub-forum!

I see what the pro-mandatory post count people are saying. It does some good. However, with over 4,000 members of this board we already have enough problems getting people to post. I would estimate around 150-300 members contribute regularly. We should just let anyone post whenever. If you want you can make a special sub-forum for veteran posters only - or make a mandatory post count for thread starting ability only.
