I haven't had emoticons or even pictures for 2 days and don't know why. I've logged off and on, shut down and restarted the computer...I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

I think you all know I'm a little challenged in the computer area.

I know same here at home. I'm on a cable line so I'm not sure what the problem is... I get the x-ed out smilies so it' snot like they aren't enabled. I dont know

I had this problem on another board I used to post at.

Did you guys try clearing your cookies? Thats what always worked for me. You might have to do a restart after you clear them.

Hrmm...I dunno if this is the problem, but go to My Controls, then Board Settings under Options (on the left hand side). For the option that says "Do you wish to view images in posts, such as smilies and posted images?", make sure it says "Yes". It's worth a shot...

Thank you, too. But alas, I checked and it is set to yes. Funny thing...I can see a few poster's avatars and smilies. Moustic's, PK's, Rock's and Jerseydevil's as far as I remember. Strange?!?! It's a conspiracy, I tell you.

first advice... don't let your cat run across the keyboard

simple terms.. when you go to the web and access a site or a picture your browser will
save the files accessed in a thing called cache (or temp. internet files for those on
internet destroyer).. when you go BACK to the site it checks it for changes .. and if
there are none it uses the file in the cache instead skipping the waste of bandwidth
and time....

Ok. If you say so. I wouldn't bet against you. There really is no rhyme or reason to this problem that I can see. For example, when PK posts, I can see her avatar bot not the counter line under her rank, ya know? Also, I can see the smilie next to her signature but not the smilies she posts in the post, ya know? Annnnd, when her and Moustic were cheerleading yesterday in that thread, I saw all the smilies they were posting but nobody elses. Does that make any sense to you.

pooh.. it kinda does.. what internet browser are you using ?? (AOL, IE (what version),
Netscape).. that coudl be an issue too.. you may need to update it

Start
Control Panel
System
Automatic Updates
and see if it's clicked on or not

anything else.. I do house calls for $50 an hour

I told Moustic once....leave me and save yourself! I'm hopeless. Only thing I see is a Windows update. I'll just have to read the smilies for the rest of my days. Or 'til my husband figures out what's wrong. Which may be just as long.

p.s. - Does that rate include travel costs or is that additional?
