Hockey's Future: Top collegiate free agents drawing NHL interest

Kelly Zajac, C, Senior, Union College - A quick, excellent playmaking center that leads the Dutchmen with 30 points. The New Jersey Devils are among the teams that have shown interest in Zajac. His brothers Travis and Darcy are currently part of the Devils organization.

Knowing nothing at all about the following names until I read the article I'd have to say that sophomore's (both age 21) Dan Dekeyser (D) and J.T. Brown (RW) seem interesting. Though it sounds like Dekeyser will have a lot of teams vying for his services. Junior goaltender Chris Rawlings seems like he could be a potential late bloomer (already 23) but with Frazee, Kinkaid, Clermont, and most likely Wedgewood in the organization next year I can't see the Devils signing another goaltender.

EDIT: Forgot to add that the Devils already have 2 spots open on the reserve list so they can get a head start and sign a NCAA FA or 2 as soon as that player's season ends.

I missed this article about a week ago: TSN McCagg - Risers and Fallers for 2012 NHL Entry Draft

"He is fat and out of shape," noted one scout matter-of-factly. "He's good for about the first ten minutes of the game and then he's gassed. He is on a free fall.

"The $297,297 Kovalchuk missed today is money he will never, ever get back. And the more cheques he misses, the better the deal is going to have to be for the players to justify him sitting out. And unlike the owners, the players can direct their leadership to get a deal done regardless of how disadvantageous it is to them."

Take a chance in the second round

Players on a free fall rarely amount to anything and even if they do (O'Sullivan) are usually a cancer on a team.

What do you consider a free fall? Brandon Saad might fit that category, going from someone who could have been a top ten pick to a mid second rounder. He hasn't proven anything yet, but indications are that he's going to be good.

Hello fellow American. This you should vote me. I leave power. Good. Thank you, thank you. If you vote me, I'm hot. What? Taxes, they'll be lower... son. The Democratic vote is the right thing to do Philadelphia, so do.
How do you spot risk? How do you avoid risk? And what makes it so risky?

Jiri Hudler is another player who I remember being talked about as a top 10 pick, and he is one of the best players from the 2002 draft.

But someone with poor conditioning habits isn't a good fit.

As for college FAs, no chance we get DeKeyser, but boy does that J.T. Brown sound like a good fit. Problem is, with a low cap on money, NJ will not get that many top college free agents.
