Devils prospect Reid Boucher was originally playing on a line with Alex Galchenyuk and top prospect for the 2012 Draft Nail Yakupov during the preseason which was exciting. He's since been on and off a line with Yakupov. Regarding Galchenyuk, I wonder how much this will hurt his draft stock?Sarnia Sting forward Alex Galchenyuk, one of the top prospects for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, will have surgery later this week to repair a torn ACL in his knee.
The centre, who was injured on Sept. 16 in an exhibition game against the Windsor Spitfires, was rated fifth on TSN's 2012 pre-season draft prospect list.

The simplest way to sum up the Devils organizational depth chart is they are brimming with talent and depth on defense, thinning very quickly at forward, and slowly but surely building up a solid group of goaltending prospects. As a whole though, this is the strongest the organization has been overall in quite sometime.
However, with the pending graduation of some of the organizations top prospects, the overall depth of the system is going to take a hit. What that means is players are progressing through the system and establishing themselves as NHLers, which is what a franchise wants.

Jared at Hockeys Future has his Fall 2011 Depth Analysis up:
I don't like the way HF evaluates systems. Sure NJ doesn't have much up front in terms of prospects but you have Tedenby 21, Josefson 20, Henrique 21 and Palmieri 22 all on entry level deals who are scraping tooth and nail for top 6 opportunities. Assuming Kovalchuk, Parise and Zajac are all still top 6 players and with NJ your top 6 is still filled with the extra player joining Clarkson and maybe Elias on the 3rd line.
Also in two years you should have a plethora of 3rd and 4th line prospects. Hoeffel, Wohlberg, Sislo, Zharkov, and Rodwell (can't wait for him).

Nice to see Wedgewood get named to the squad. He is listed to be playing the November 14th game. The Ontario Hockey League announced today that Plymouth Whalers Mitchell Heard and Scott Wedgewood have been named to the Ontario Hockey League All-Star team that will play Team Russia in the 2011 Subway Super Series.
Wedgewood played last season for the OHL All-Stars against Team Russia in the 2010 Subway Super Series, stopping six shots in 29:18 of work in a 4-0 OHL All-Star victory in London.
Wedgewood was originally selected by Plymouth in the seventh round (130th overall) of the 2008 OHL Priority Selection and was taken by the New Jersey Devils in the third round (84th overall) in the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft. In 87 career games with Plymouth, Wedgewood has compiled a 3.19 goals against average, .904 save percentage, three shutouts and a 36-32-3-1 won-loss record.

not that this means anything but heres a mock draft....galchenyuk goes 9th
My link
also reminds me of brett connolly who is getting top six mins this season in tampa bay...also injured but maintained his rank well
VIA his wiki...ended up going 6th
Connolly was highly ranked for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He was listed as the sixth best player amongst North American skaters for the draft by International Scouting services. NHL Central Scouting ranked him fourth overall amongst North American skaters in the midterm rankings despite the injury that has limited him to playing only 12 of the Cougar's first 46 games.

Apparently this 2012 draft class has been having some key guys getting hurt:
3. How will injuries to prospects such as Alex Galchenyuk in Sarnia, Ryan Murray in Everett and Marty Frk in Halifax affect their draft status?
The Frk concussion is something that teams will need to fully explore, however, if he comes back just as strong as or stronger than before, his draft stock will remain high. Same with Murray who will still be back to play plenty of games later in the year.
Only time will truly paint Galchenyuk’s draft picture but we at FC believe he is a game breaking talent that deserves a top-10 spot baring any permanent knee damage.
Jake McCabe Freak Injury
It’s not the type of hockey injury one would think of when sidelined five-to-eight weeks, but it will still put 2012 NHL Entry Draft eligible Jake McCabe on the shelf.
Taking his glove off to reach for a water bottle, a teammate’s skate blade clip the back of McCabe’s hand, slicing a tendon.
Future Considerations seems to have a good pulse on everything going on. It seems they re-did their site not too long ago and it has a lot of good info. Check it out!

Ohio State tied Alaska 2-2
Curtis Gedig (D): Assist, +1, 1 Shot, 6 Blocks

Blake Coleman (F): E, 3 Shots, Lost his only faceoff attempt
WHL:
Swift Current defeated Prince Albert 6-3
Reece Scarlett (D): Assist, +3 - 2nd Star
Chris Peters at The United States of Hockey analyzes whether or not Merrill will be on the US World Junior team.
That Merrill wouldn’t play in a game in the half season leading up to the World Junior Championship should be (and likely is) of great concern to Dean Blais and his staff. The fact that Merrill’s barely even practiced on ice this year should be downright horrifying. Merrill’s last meaningful ice time came at the National Junior Evaluation Camp in early August.
Dean Blais is a bit of an old-school guy. Whatever disciplinary action Michigan took will likely be under consideration for Blais, director of player personnel Tim Taylor and GM Jim Johannson. That, combined with the lack of ice time for Merrill could be curtains for the super skilled defenseman.
He’s not completely dead in the water. Merrill has a bunch of international experience and success, and was one of the best players in the nation down the stretch last season, helping Michigan get to the national championship game. There are just going to be concerns of distraction, fitness level, rustiness, and all of those things will factor into the decision.

Notes:
Devils Prospect Helps Guide Huskies to Great Start
One of the teams generating the most buzz around the college hockey community right now are the 5-2-1 Michigan Tech Huskies. Under new head Mel Pearson, Michigan Tech is off to their best season-opening month start since the 2006-07 campaign.
Point production throughout their lineup and rock solid goaltending from their tandem of senior Josh Robinson and junior Kevin Genoe are two reasons behind Michigan Tech's early season success.
The Huskies have just one NHL prospect on their current roster in freshman Blake Pietila (NJ). The Brighton, MI native is part of a freshmen group upfront that have contributed greatly to the team's offensive output thus far. Pietila currently leads the Huskies in rookie scoring with seven points (three goals, four assists) in eight games. Where he has been particularly good has been on the Huskies power play, where two of his three goals have come.
Merrill Update as of 10/1
While announcing that Merrill would rejoin the team today, Michigan coach Red Berenson said Merrill will be held out of game action "indefinitely."
“Jon has been reinstated to participate in team activities beginning today," Berenson said in a statement. "He will resume practice with the team, but remains suspended from game action indefinitely.”

Kinkaid gets shutout ... congrats on the first shut out for him with 33 saves.
Albany is now 6-6-0 ... 12 points ... looks like they are doing very well.
