I have just watched Martin Brodeur Tribute (www.newjerseydevils.com) and I have noticed that in his first games he wore #29 and not his usual #30.
Why? When did he take #30?
If you don't know it, have a look here:

Chad Erickson wore #30 when he was up with the Devils in 1992-93.
Don't know why he got dibs. He played his first game March 22, 1993, while Marty played his first game March 26. That might be why... who knows.
Both played on Utica that year as well. Wonder if it was the same situation there.

i heard somebody ask marty about that once and he said "I don't know, they gave me the first number and gave me the second. In Jersey, they just give you a number." or something along those lines. basically, he had no control over the situation.
Official Keeper of Ken Daneyko's missing teeth, Jeff Friesen's moustache, Shanahan's Pub in the CAA concourse (only place you could buy Guinness). Unofficial Keeper of Wayne Gretzky's perm.
