With the news this week involving Penn State and their subsequent banning of this song at this weekend's game as well as future sporting events, I think it may be time to get rid of this tune here as well.
I'm not trying to be overly PC, as I consider myself fairly "un" PC, and while Ive known who Gary Glitter is for a while, it really is not a song/artist that Id want the Devils to be associated with.

..wait, I can't tell if this is a sarcastic jab at how overblown this whole PSU situation is..
..of if you're actually serious. Because, if you are..you're an idiot. Holy hell.
You consider the rape of children and adults overlooking it for at least 15 years overblown? Okay. Its also worth taking into account how Penn State was so much about perpetuating their idyllic environment (no NCAA infractions, etc) when there was a monster on campus for more than 30 years. 24/7 coverage of anything is overblown, but thats the world we live in.
The song was written and is performed by a convicted child molester. I dont see how its idiotic to question its use when its so prominently used within this franchise. Obviously, PSU has a whole different outlook when one of their own is being accused of such awful crimes, but it still doesnt change the fact who created the song.
I remember reading when they brought the song back that they worked out some kind of deal where he doesn't get any of the royalties anymore.
Didnt know that. I imagine most who play/use it would have that deal now as well.

I do hate the "You Suck" addition, though. And unfortunately, it's infected the fans here in Albany as well.
of the Devils' mascot, NJ Devil, and
of all mascots far and wide.IT IS VERY HARD TO WIN ONE STANLEY CUP, FORGET ABOUT THREE... and maybe it's high time some of you actually APPRECIATED THAT instead of treating it like it's some flipping birthright because for some random reason you rooted for the damn Devils!!!!!

I think the 'you suck' hate is overblown. There are much worse things that could be said.
It is pretty silly chant. I stopped doing it a bit ago. It is especially silly when the crowd does it even though we are losing 4-1

Agreed. I don't mind a bit of it, but after every goal and when they're losing is a bit silly. Maybe the supporters section can come up w/ something different????????????
Know its off topic, but since the scandal is in this thread and as a disgusted alum....There is an Alumni fundraising effort in progress:

They're at around $250K with a goal of $557.

Tell ya what... we can stop using it when they start burning Michael Jackson albums in the middle of Times Square.

Yeah, I heard some Albany highlights with it - my condolences. I'd like to change our goal song - the reasons ghdi lays out is a good PR rationale - but I have to imagine our fanbase can work 'You suck' into Zombie Nation too.

Like doing Rangers Suck 4 times while down 2 goals last night?
of each of Toronto's 6 shots on goal in Game 6

Michael Jackson was never convicted of anything. Theres lots of doubt as to what he did or didnt do. Many people believe he is innocent of what hes been accused of.
On the other hand, Glitter was convicted and did it again. There are no questions about his crimes.
Im not against it being used espc with the knowledge he's not receiving royalties, but Im not against changing it.

3:00-3:30 would be the part I'd use for the goal horn. Heard it done before in Buffalo [it used to be their goal song for the 4th goal and higher of the game.]
-or-
thanks to NHL 10 (?), I actually got used to this:
1:37-2:05
of each of Toronto's 6 shots on goal in Game 6
