"You've got more freedom to do wjhat you want on the ice (under new coach Kevin Dineen)," defenseman Dmitry Kulikov told the SunSentinel. "You feel if you make a mistake you can make up for it on the next shift.

"With Pete, it's one mistake and you're like shaking for the rest of the game."

:cryriver: :cryriver: :cryriver:

umm...maybe because you weren't disciplined enough? That's his JOB. The coaches beat you down for your mistakes (so you learn and don't do it again), your team builds you back up.

Get a thicker skin Panthers!

I'm sorry, is this the peewees where players can't have their feelings hurt, or be made to feel accountable?

This is a professional league. You should be afraid of making mistakes. I think DeBoer has done a fantastic job so far.

Yea it was tough for Henrique to step in as a rookie. This article makes me like DeBoer even more. It is better to be feared. Part of the reason Bowman and Burns were so great.

The coach can't be your buddy, if he is, there's a wide open door toa take too many liberties and be able to walk all over him. The coach has to be tough to get results

I like DeBoer more from this as well. His youth isn't an issue (to me he's young :P) and he's not going to be like Robinson too nice a players' coach a wimp too nice.

I am happy with DeBoer as I believe the players are. His coaching style seems to be working for the Devils thus far.

For some reason when he said DeBoer is more about "finery" this clip came to mind...

To be fair, they also signed pretty much almost a new lineup this past summer.

This is where I stopped reading...

"He never complimented me on my hair...or my clothes...or the awesome new pairs of shoes I'd bought. It was like he'd refused to notice me. Sure, maybe I'd put on a few pounds since we first met, but you have to keep building that relationship."

"A lot o' people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch o' unconnected incidents 'n things. They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice o' coincidence that lays on top o' everything. Give you an example; show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness."

Yeah and when a player buys into the system and overcomes his weaknesses forcing the coach to play him, ala Henrique, he becomes a better player for it

sure, and that's because they acquired a ton of talent in the off-season. when deboer was coaching them last season they were running on fumes.
