this is a dumb question but does Parise have a say in where he can be traded?
I was thinking the same thing today but according to cap geek he does not.

Stanley Cups 3 (1994–95, 1999–00, 2002–03)
Conference championships 5 (1994–95, 1999–00, 2000–01, 2002–03, 2011-12)
Division championships 9 (1996–97, 1997–98, 1998–99, 2000–01, 2002–03, 2005–06, 2006–07, 2008–09, 2009–10)

There are two factors to this whole Parise thing.
Money and the ability for his new (or old if he stays) team to win.
Why would he go to Minnesota? They made the conference finals ONCE. They have had no winning culture since they have been back in 2002. They don't have a proven coaching staff or goalie. Cullen might be the only guy on that roster that has won a championship.
The Devils have his best friend in Zajac, an elite superstar for the next 14 years in Kovalchuk, a promising future with Henrique, Tedenby, Larsson, Merrill, Josefson, Urbom, and so on...
If the Wild can blow the Devils out of the water in terms of money, he will have to give up his desire to win.
He keeps saying over and over he wants to stay here... and he says one of his biggest , if not biggest, factors is that he wants to win... so the fact that so many people keep saying the Wild are the most likely choice is just mind boggling.
I think the fact that Minnesota has a huge fan base and the fact that he's actually from there is attractive to Parise. The team, although they don't have a lot of history, doesn't exactly suck either.

To think Lebron did the exact opposite and left his hometown team.

I just don't see too many cases of guys signing for their hometown team anymore...
Sure, the Wild don't suck right now... But remember when they were #1 in the league earlier this year? They now have more losses than wins when you add up losses and shootout losses.

we dont see that often players signing in their hometown when they are UFAs... Hamhuis did it... but he went to a good contending team, other than that i dont know? Modano did it when he was on the verge of retiring...

Yes true they have been on quite the skid.
I think the Parise thing will come down to money here. We either have it or we don't. Things are not good. NHL may take control of the team.
::sigh. Yea probably is as simple as that. The rest of this statement just bums me out because it's true.

Let's not overlook he is getting married. If his girl is from the Midwest, I find it as big a factor as anything.
well if you're a girl... would you rather live in Hoboken, 15 minutes from NEW-YORK or live in St-Paul 15 minutes from Minneapolis?
im pretty sure 100% of the girls i would ask to would pick New-York

Lou said at Kovy's press conference that Kovy was JVB decision.
Which means that winning hockey decisions take a back seat.

Yeah, taking a peek at Minneosta's roster, they are further away from a legit Cup run then we are.
yeah not really attractive for a winger, Zach would be playing with either Koivu (who's always injured), an aging Cullen, or Brodziak... Maybe eventually with Granlund, Philips or but who knows if they will be good NHLers.
i'd rather stick with Zajac, Henrique, Elias and Josefson.

Like I said before, it's pretty much the Devils or Detroit. I think that the Red Wings have more rebuilding to do than we do as well, along with the fact that Zach is familiar with the Devils already. So, he'll get the same offer from both the Devils and Detroit (along with a handful of other offers, mostly for less), and hopefully he'll end up choosing to stay in Jersey.

She's a teacher in NJ if I remember correctly.

yea, i heard she's a Jersey girl too and a likely reason to stay as in saying she don't want to move anywhere.
