I doubt we see him get a 15 year deal like Kovy has after what happened with that ordeal.
There's a few other similar comments to this as well.
The thing is, while I generally agree with Lou and a bunch of other GM's on the fact that those deals are bad for the NHL, the current CBA is structured to encourage them. The fact that the league finally got upset about it when the Devils signed Kovy is just a bit of bad luck (well, I'm convinced that there are people in the league office that have it out for the Devils, but whatever). They should have said something back in 2006 when the Islanders signed DiPietro, but there obviously wasn't the political wherewithal at the time to do anything about the issue.
Specifically regarding Parise though, I'm curious about the thought that he shouldn't get a similar length deal as Kovy received. Are you guys saying that he doesn't deserve it, or are you saying that it's worth it to "draw a line in the sand" over the issue now?
