Philadelphia Flyers center Zac Rinaldo has been fined a total of $5,000 as a result of two separate incidents during NHL Game No. 768 against the New Jersey Devils Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

Rinaldo was fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for his late hit on Devils center Jacob Josefson at 12:51 of the second period. Rinaldo received a minor penalty for interference.

Rinaldo also was fined the maximum $2,500 for his dangerous trip of Devils left wing Zach Parise after the whistle at 11:38 of the third period. No penalty was assessed on the play.

The fine money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Im wondering how this guy isn't suspended.

Oh give me a break Shanny! These were obvious attempts to injure when a star player takes exception and drops his gloves to stop it you need to step up and suspend the a$$hole!

Seriously 5K is like 20 bucks for these players.

I agree. I seriously was never that big of a Flyers hater for some reason. I know a lot of people talk about them but I just never care enough about them in order to hate them I guess. This game pretty much added them to my hate list of: Rangers, Boston Red Sox, NY Jets, and now Philadelphia Cryers.

Meh, $5000 is a decent amount for a guy who probably won't make more than NHL minimum. Unfortunately, the NHL has a precedent to not suspend for slew foots - they didn't suspend Larsson for his, they didn't suspend Subban for his, etc.

This right here, this just shows what a stupid fvcking player he is. He doesn't really regret what he did, and he'll surely do it again.

I hope people look back at this fail of a fine when he actually hurts someone.

Ok I don't remember seeing the late hit on jj but that slew foot on Paris's was bullsh!t. Rinaldo is such a dirt and I'm glad kovy was there to embarrass one of their players
