When he got up for the shootout, I was all like, "Oh no this is just all coming together too conveniently." So relieved when he was stopped.

lol I thought he was getting booed for a year based on the reaction when he was traded, though over the last couple days I really thought the tide had turned and it would at least be mixed. Cue the meme about how we're classless fans now despite cheering Gionta, Madden, Rafalski and White when they came back :P

I have heard people on this board who were at some of the games say Gionta and Madden were booed but others say they were cheered. Wonder which one it is.

"The Stanley Cup has fallen from the Stars. The new millennium has its first Stanley Cup Champion, and it's the New Jersey Devils." Mike Miller calling the Devils winning the Stanley Cup.

"It goes to the captain and then there are handoffs during a skate around the ice" Mike Emrick as Scott Stevens is being presented the Stanley Cup.

Well according to HF (and Steve Cangalosi) he wasn't booed all that much in the pregame after all...so which is it lol? Must be dependent on where you sat. I was at all those other games though - Gionta, Madden (at least this year, don't remember if I was at his actual first game against us) and White definitely got nice ovations from where I was sitting.

"The Devils have high standards, that's the difference. We have a standard to live up to every year, and a couple of teams in our area don't have the standards we do." - Pat Burns

The New Jersey Devils win Stanley Cups everywhere:
-NHL record for most road wins in the playoffs - 10-1 in '95 and 10-2 in '00
-NHL record for most home wins in the playoffs - 12-1 in '03

Yea, Cangi mentioned that Langs received a warm ovation. Its understandable he was boo'd in the shootout. Almost every opposing player gets boo'd.

Langs was also booed pretty well when his name was announced at the beginning with some decent cheering as well.

"The $297,297 Kovalchuk missed today is money he will never, ever get back. And the more cheques he misses, the better the deal is going to have to be for the players to justify him sitting out. And unlike the owners, the players can direct their leadership to get a deal done regardless of how disadvantageous it is to them."

Your unconditional rejection of violence makes you smugly think of yourselves as noble, as enlightened, but in reality it is nothing less than abject moral capitulation to evil. Unconditional rejection of self-defense, because you think its a supposed surrender to violence, leaves you no resort but begging for mercy or offering appeasement.

I heard no booing and some cheers. He did however get a rousing "sucks" just like everyone else.
