He'd be a solid upgrade for our 4th, maybe even 3rd line for the rest of the season. Depth is good. Especially if you wanna win cups. :D

Do people have amnesia here or something??? He was absolutely terrible last year, and this year he can't even help the ISLANDERS!

He is not an upgrade over anyone. He has a grand total of nine points this year.

Hello fellow American. This you should vote me. I leave power. Good. Thank you, thank you. If you vote me, I'm hot. What? Taxes, they'll be lower... son. The Democratic vote is the right thing to do Philadelphia, so do.
How do you spot risk? How do you avoid risk? And what makes it so risky?

After everything that was said about Rolston last year, I cannot believe anyone even pondered claiming him for even a millisecond.

The main gripe about Rolston was his contract, not his performance. Granted, he doesn't exactly seem to have improved much from last year, so I'm not gonna lose any sleep over him clearing waivers. :P

His performance sucked, the contract just made it even worse.

The point was merely that his performance (with NJ last season) would easily have been an upgrade over our current 4th liners.

We don't really need a guy who is soft along the boards and doesn't do any hitting on our 4th line. A good 4th line just needs to work hard down low, hit people and not get scored on much more than they score. I don't believe Rolston would help any of those categories, except maybe the odd goal from a blueline blast.

Zajac is an upgrade for the 4th line, and already under contract. Rolston would not be an upgrade, and would cost us money. I would rather #freezharkov than pay for Rolston, though I'm happiest with Bernier/Sykora - Josefson - Carter.

We can't afford it from a maintenance perspective. He wears down the plexi too much.

"The $297,297 Kovalchuk missed today is money he will never, ever get back. And the more cheques he misses, the better the deal is going to have to be for the players to justify him sitting out. And unlike the owners, the players can direct their leadership to get a deal done regardless of how disadvantageous it is to them."

Interesting that our forum geniuses all agrees he couldn't upgrade our 4th line (Mills, Boulton, Janssen being dressed regularly), and then the champions add him going into the playoffs.. :o

Boulton and Janssen have TOTALLY different rolls than what Rolston's would be. A 4th liner needs to hit, bring energy, and keep the puck in the other team's zone. Rolston was already here and he couldn't contribute anything. He was soft in the corners, wouldn't go to any tough areas, and couldn't hit the ocean from the pier. Additionally, he was being scratched by the NEW YORK ISLANDERS, who have the worst offense and goal differential in the East.

We don't NEED the "roles" that Boulton/Janssen bring to the table tbh. They shouldn't be NHL players, Janssen especially. I'm not saying I miss Rolston that much, but I think we'd be a stronger team with him then without him. Obviously his cap hit was horrible..

I guess the Boston GM & coach must be complete retards. Oh wait.

Sykora's better than Rolston at exactly the same thing. Assuming Zajac comes back, Sykora probably drops to the 4th line, to play in, wait for it, the same spot Rolston would be filling. Why would we pay another player to fill a spot that will already be filled?

Forgetting Boulton and Jannssen, because I think they're both worthless in the playoffs unless we draw Philly, Carter, Zharkov and Tedenby all bring another useful element to the table that Rolston does not.
