I am charter member.. at beginning of season I was desperate for Lou to work some magic and dump this old-injured-slow unless D-man and clear the cap space

He was our best D-man all year and 2 playoff goals against the Phailures...

Lead the team with TOI and +/-

I stand corrected once again

"Quite frankly, all the players are getting paid too much and all the contracts are too long," general manager Lou Lamoriello said. "But if you want to compete in this market and you want to win, there are some things you have to do."

Yep, was furious they shipped out Whitey over Sal at the start of the year. Sal has picked it up big time, especially with Volch struggling so badly these playoffs.

agreed...didnt think he was coming back after the concussion and i was afraid when it seemed like he would

i have a question do we want him back....kinda feel like this is his last charge and we so much solid youth coming up at d

"The $297,297 Kovalchuk missed today is money he will never, ever get back. And the more cheques he misses, the better the deal is going to have to be for the players to justify him sitting out. And unlike the owners, the players can direct their leadership to get a deal done regardless of how disadvantageous it is to them."

nomnomnomnomnom here... He was slow and clueless for a few months, effects of the concussion I'm sure. But he was phenomenal after January and during the playoffs. I was very happy to see them give him the "A" during Kovy's absence. Truly deserving!

It's really a shame a team can't have two nominees, because it's REALLY hard to argue with Sykora getting it.

I've always kind of liked Sal, glad to seem him finally getting some credit this year/series.

Salvador was simply outstanding in this series. Very impressive.

Was thinking about how strange it was that he seemed as good as retired last season, and it wasn't like I was missing him.

I was also in the "he should retire or get bought out" crowd before the season. He had an incredible bounce back year and has been very solid in the playoffs, even making some smart offensive plays. Glad our management knew better than me and kept him.

It's almost unreal how good he's been. The stats he has...you expect them from Greene, or Zidlicky. Not Salvador.

Bobby Holik wouldn't name a (Christmas) song. He said: "Music means nothing to me." When Tom Gulitti of the
Record suggested he'd be called Scrooge, Holik said: "It won't be the first time." -Bobby Holik Christmas 2008

“I made a decision to be here. Just because the team is going through a rough time doesn’t mean you leave. This has become my second home. I love playing here. Patrik Elias January 31, 2011

And you can Add Andy Greene to the list as well, MANY here wanted him traded. didnt think he was worth 2 mil let alone 3.5 mil. he was the best D skater in the series (with zid)constantly getting the puck behind the net and skating it clear
