choked? no screwed up on that attempted clear? yes. Did the ref have an obligation to call that dead before it went in YES! No way he saw where it was and it was trapped under marty's skate. Just as much the official's fault as Marty's Apparently you have to practically SIT on the puck to have it called dead here
But he DID call it no goal at first. I am not the best educated as to the ref signals, so please correct me if I am wrong, but when the puck was under Brodeur the ref waived his arms out to the sides a la "you're safe" in baseball. I think it is called a washout signal. A fraction of a second later he lowered one arm and stuck the other forward. Either he messed up his Nazi salute or he was making a goal signal... I am pretty sure he was making a goal signal but nothing would surprise me about these officials any more.
I don't recall this part as well, but I think what delayed the ref from blowing the whistle for a sec was he was about to put the whistle to his lips and he then made his "safe"/no goal signal. Now this all happened in about one second or so, but I think I am right. Did anyone else see any of this?

[Mark Messier]: A big, bald attention whore with a stupid Easter Island-lookin face. - from who else? DaneykoIsGod!
Even when Marty comes back maybe Larry should put Clemmensen to be on the goal during the shootouts.
Can the coach do that ? Switch the goalies 5 seconds to go in overtime? - Most priceless quote ever posted on a message board.
Martin Brodeur: THE MOST ALL-TIME WINS!, 12 straight seasons of 30+ wins, 3 Stanley Cups, 4 Vezina Trophies, and zero respect from too many so-called Devils "fans" who are either too young or too bandwagon to remember the much darker days of Sean Burke, Craig Billington, Bob Sauve, Alain Chevrier, and the talented but overwhelmed Chico Resch, among many others.
It's easy to support a great player when he's playing at his very best. It takes a true fan to support that same player during those rare moments and stretches when he's not. Babe Ruth went 0-4 some games, and sometimes Wayne Gretzky was held pointless. There may be such a thing as greatness, but no such thing as absolute perfection every single night.
