Great. That still doesn't mean Zach's inability to make an impassioned war speech before every game makes him a bad captain. Everyone who has played for Stevens said that he never made speeches. He just went out and performed.

“I think winning against them in the big stage, not just for me, but for the fans of New Jersey, people that are supporting us and always take a second seat to these guys for whatever reason, now they’ve got to be pretty happy going to work and going to school and doing all their things that they do." - Martin Brodeur

That was brilliant and insightful.
[Mark Messier]: A big, bald attention whore with a stupid Easter Island-lookin face. - from who else? DaneykoIsGod!
Even when Marty comes back maybe Larry should put Clemmensen to be on the goal during the shootouts.
Can the coach do that ? Switch the goalies 5 seconds to go in overtime? - Most priceless quote ever posted on a message board.
Martin Brodeur: THE MOST ALL-TIME WINS!, 12 straight seasons of 30+ wins, 3 Stanley Cups, 4 Vezina Trophies, and zero respect from too many so-called Devils "fans" who are either too young or too bandwagon to remember the much darker days of Sean Burke, Craig Billington, Bob Sauve, Alain Chevrier, and the talented but overwhelmed Chico Resch, among many others.
It's easy to support a great player when he's playing at his very best. It takes a true fan to support that same player during those rare moments and stretches when he's not. Babe Ruth went 0-4 some games, and sometimes Wayne Gretzky was held pointless. There may be such a thing as greatness, but no such thing as absolute perfection every single night.

first words out of my husband mouth about Zach last night... "why'd he shoot it right at the center of his chest? --- Why are you making that face?" "it's a long story" says I
Now if only Zach can perfect his shooting so that it's hard enough to put it through a goalie's padding and chest, we'll be golden.
That'd have to count, right?

well, actually... you couldn't SEE the puck over the line. yeah... it would be inconclusive.
Oh oh! you mean THROUGH the chest cavity, not just into... so yeah -- if it came out the other side? Yeah that's good! GOAL!

Yeah, that's right...actually through the guy's chest...comes out the other side...puck goes into the net...blood sprays everywhere...the goalie's faces freezes in horror at the realization of what just happened before he collapses dead on the ice...you got it.
Christ, this just got real morbid, didn't it?
[slight pause]
Still, if Zach can learn to do this before the next game, I think this series is ours.
