Divided Leeds household as the wife and her family are Germans......
Let's salvage this tourney by having the Irish beat the Italians and denying them advancement.

Watched every game so far, it’s been interesting.
I had Germany and Denmark coming out of the group of death, and for a large portion of last night that looked to be coming true. Germany played well, but they were lucky not to be behind on two occasions last night, when Lars Jacobsen missed a chance he should have scored. Also it should have been a penalty. But Germany took their chances, and TBH they don’t look like they are even out of second gear yet.
England made a terrible Swedish team look half decent, says it all. With Rooney back in the side i hope the show a little more attacking ambition for the Ukraine game. Hodgson needs to start with pace, Walcott and Oxlade- chamberlain on either wing, and then Rooney and Welbeck upfront. Let Parker and Gerrard sit in front of the back four.
Although the Republic of Ireland are truly the worst team in the entire competition (save Shay Given who really doesn’t deserve to be on the end of those kind of results) I can see them ruining Italy’s campaign tonight. With Trappetoni managing them it just seems to be one of those things which is destined to happen.
Oh and Spain are much better when the stop trying to be Barcelona. No strikers works fine when one of your attacking midfielders is Messi, when its Fabregas and David Silva , not so much.

Watched the Germany-Denmark game at a public viewing at a local Munich beer garden and unfortunately had large tree right in from of me, so I couldn't see everything
Especially not the missed penalty call for Denmark. Anyways, I am happy the boys made it out of the tough group. Greece will be another tough opponent with great defense. I doubt it will be a spectacular game, but rather one which requires lots of patience. One goal might be enough in that one.
You should probably walk over Greece.
They should have lost to Russia. Russia had multiple chances and didn't put any of them away.
Then again i said that about a number of games.

Thats what everyone thought in 2004. Dont count out the Greeks until they are out. They will give Germany a good game.

You don't turn this around in a couple shifts. Its going to take a little time, but I know the guys will come back. Because I can see it. -- Jacques Lemaire

I picked Portugal to finish second, so I'm happy. So far I've picked 5 of 6 correctly. If only I'd picked Greece instead of Poland...
So i'm curious.. Who have you picked for the last group ? ; )

Yeah the last bit of my post sort of covers that.
Last nights games were by far the most boring and un entertaining out of the whole tournament.
Barcelona showed up instead of Spain again and spent the entire evening trying to pass the ball into the net, which they eventually did. If i was Llorente i would be going crazy right now. If Rakitic heads the ball into the ground its 1-0 with 15 minutes to go. Croatia deserverd better, and Luka Modric was incredible.
Italy made a useless Ireland side look half decent.
Tonight i see France beating a terrible Sweden team, and England scraping a draw against Ukraine. Then again i am probably wrong.

Greece didn't lose any of their 10 qualifiers and gave up just 5 goals in the process. They will be very difficult to beat. It would be nice to get a quick goal, but I doubt even then Greece will open up. Maybe the last 3 minutes, but not before. Won't be the most entertaining game to watch for sure. More like watching a chess match.

England takes the group, France in second, though if I was picking today I'd pick France over England.

Mouse... see.. you were right again...
First time I've picked a decent bracket in any sport since I was about 8. Of course I didn't put money on this one.

However... Over the past 800 years, France fought in 185 military Battles and won 132 of them, giving the French military the best record of any country in Europe...

Take out the battles won by Napoleon and Louis XIV or where they allied themselves with another nation/kingdom/empire and you are prob down to less than 20.
