This summer's Devil UFA's

Salvador, I would think is probably gone, not gonna be able to match up what he wants versus what the team can do cap-wise.
I hope Poni is back, don't know if there are other teams interested in paying him more than we'd be.
Out of our 4th line group I think Carter is going to have the most in terms of offers from other teams. Gionta and Bernier likely will stay at about 1 million to 1.5 each. I wouldn't pay more than that thus far on maybe 1 year deals for each, 2 at most. Carter might be tougher.
Sykora is a tough one, I don't know if other teams are now interested in him from his comeback this year, nobody was before, plus he is a year older. I'm thinking the Devils put this one on the low end of priority at this point.
Brodeur stays of course, I'm thinking 4 million at most, Marty takes a discount every time and 4 million is what he is actually worth, so maybe less.
Moose sadly is probably gone just for the fact that the team needs to start planning for the future here and can't keep up the old goalies thing every year (as good as it has worked thus far).
Dunno about the rest, hard to come up with numbers, just my take.

(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $64,354,166; BONUSES: $262,500
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $5,945,834
This is my take on the roster with Ryan Suter and I just hit the 64.3 million plateau. If we go with a 22 man roster, we should be below the salary cap.

LOL, I know capgeek is a little skewed in the sense it only shows 1 year, I think we could sign Parise for 12 yrs/72 million, front loaded and Ryan Suter with a similar contract. If I said Devils sign Kovy for 6.6 million, you'd be trying to sell me the Brooklyn Bridge .... lol.

And Fayne's contract.
I think they're all doable, when keeping in mind that eventually Zidlicky will come off the books and Elias' next contract won't pay him as much.

Volchenkov has 4 yrs left and Tallinder has 2One thing you guys have to remember. Zidlicky/Tallinder/Volchenkov/Elias/Zubrus will also be coming off the books or they will have to take a discount to stay. So I think in the long term it will all even out.

I think you're underestimating almost all of those signings, specifically carter, Harding and Fayne.

Zach- Depends on the financials, my guess it will take 12 years 80-90 million to sign him (almost all of you are underestimating what he will get). If they have a financing deal in place he stays.
Sal- walks, won't even get an offer from the Devils. Have 6 d locked in for next year no room for him.
Poni- Stay for about what he makes now
Carter- Stays
Gionta- Stays, one way deal under 1 million
Sykora- walks or retires
Cam- walks, playoffs showed the team the difference a competant 4th means. Plus they can't run Kovalchuk down like they did this year.
Bernier- Not a clue
Harrold- Stays as a #7
Hedberg- Retires

I laughed out loud HARD when I saw that
Countdown to no more pipedreams about Ryan Suter becoming a Devil: 14 days
If somehow Lou managed to sign both of them, I would say it was his strongest summer in...FOREVER?!?
I think you're underestimating almost all of those signings, specifically carter, Harding and Fayne.
Carter will get $1M or more, and Fayne will certainly make more than $600k
2011= KOVALCUP
