Even when Marty comes back maybe Larry should put Clemmensen to be on the goal during the shootouts.

It's easy to support a great player when he's playing at his very best. It takes a true fan to support that same player during those rare moments and stretches when he's not. Babe Ruth went 0-4 some games, and sometimes Wayne Gretzky was held pointless. There may be such a thing as greatness, but no such thing as absolute perfection every single night.

On topic, I don't try to guess what UFAs will do anymore. If Zach leaves, wherever he might be going, the Devils will go on. If he stays and the terms aren't silly, great. But I don't rule anything out...in every sport, guys sign with "rivals" all of the time, so if Zach every were to go the Rangers or Flyers (even though he said "No" when asked about the Rangers), I'm not going to say "OMG, I can't believe he did that!"
I won't be shocked if Zach leaves at all...but I would be shocked if he signed with the Rags. What would be the point of coming out and saying what he did, to only turn around and sign with them a few weeks later?!? Makes me think even more that he has the choices already narrowed down in his head. Likely Devils, Wings, Wild....
Let's hope he is wearing the Devils jersey call next fall...(summer I guess for camp!)

Re: Parise. Take for what it's worth but Ken Holland said straight to me when I asked him yesterday in Vegas about Parise: "don't worry. We're not doing that."
You're in Vegas? What else are you hearing out there?
I can believe it if that's what Holland actually said. I think they are prioritizing a run at Suter and then maybe looking at a guy like Semin for some scoring up front if the money and term is reasonable. They do have the idea of playing with Datsyuk that they can dangle in front of Semin. If not, then I wouldn't be totally shocked if they looked at the trade market. They have some prospects if they wanted to move them.
I don't think Holland would feel comfortable spending what Parise may ultimately get despite the possibility he could go to the division rival like the Wild. Defense is a clear and more pressing need for the Wings.

Who the hell knows, but it may come down to just the Wild and the Devils. At any rate, unless Zach just doesn't want to be a Devil or doesn't love living in NJ, I don't see that team that is so much more attractive as a winner than the Devils, especially with the league now being as year-to-year as it gets. Today's winner isn't too far from being tomorrow's loser these days.

The Wild and Wings are not division rivals. The Wings have the cash for Parise, but still, they have an old building and may even be reaching their limit on what Illitch is willing to spend.

I am in Vegas, yes. The full story is that I was sitting in a bar @ Wynn and the table next to me is Holland, Dave Poile ( who is actually 10 feet away from me at rhe pool as i tupe this) their wives and another guy I recognized but could not name.
So I go to Holland "as a devils fan, please leave Parise alone". He smiles and goes "don't worry. We're not doing that."
Poile laughs and goes "what about my guy?" to Holland.
I go "yeah, leave Parise for me and Suter for him".
Holland laughs and looks at Poile an goes " don't worry about Parise."
They were all laughing an it would not surprise me at all if both these guys knew what their plans were on 7/1 but still a funny story.

Obviously there are a ton of players, coaches an GMs around. I was very fortunate to be offered to join my friend who was supplied tickets.
I've seen about 3 dozen around the hotel yesterday and today.

Karlsson came out to the pool yesterday after his deal and got big hugs and congrats from a bunch of people. And alfredsson handed him their check for their food.
Barry Melrose was wearing a Don Cherry like jacket that was 8 sizes too big walking through the casino last night.
Malkin came out to the pool today dressed like a 16 year old kid from Iowa w/ a playboy tshirt and some big doofus trucker hat.
Bylsma is at the pool reading his wife's Cosmo magazine.
Saw Henrique and wished him good luck.
Other than Henrique and the Holland story where I was full of liquid courage, it's more seeing from afar.

lol, this story is so many epic levels of win. I wouldn't even want to be near Holland if I was Poile over the next few weeks. But I guess they're both hockey lifers and know this is part of the business.
The New Jersey Devils win Stanley Cups everywhere:
-NHL record for most road wins in the playoffs - 10-1 in '95 and 10-2 in '00
-NHL record for most home wins in the playoffs - 12-1 in '03

I give you props for recognizing Poile, I think I would Holland, but not Poile.
