"Martin Brodeur very likely to test free agent market. Brodeur has hired Pat Brisson (CAA) to represent him. Bidders get ready!"
Interesting move.

Brodeur said on breakup day that he would represent himself in negotiations with Devils, but hinted he'd hire an agent if he went UFA

I could really only see maybe Boston, maybe Toronto. Other than that.........that's probably it. Chicago? (close to his kids at SSM)

Hello fellow American. This you should vote me. I leave power. Good. Thank you, thank you. If you vote me, I'm hot. What? Taxes, they'll be lower... son. The Democratic vote is the right thing to do Philadelphia, so do.
How do you spot risk? How do you avoid risk? And what makes it so risky?

Hey Lou always says it - "When time is on your side you use it" --- No Marty is using it. Learned it from watching you, Uncle Lou

the most likely scenario is this:
Marty went to Lou and said he's not taking a paycut from $5.2.
Lou feels that $4MM or so is appropriate for a 40 year old goaltender who needed a strong second half to be an average NHL goaltender with a legacy.
Both Marty and Lou know that he wants to stay and both want that to happen.
Lou tells Marty - go to UFA and find out what your value is and we'll let that shape the market. Of course, if Toronto or Chicago or Tampa wants to give you $5.5MM for one year, we'll have to come somewhere in the middle.

At any rate, he's a guy who really doesn't owe the Devils or the fans anything more than he's already given us. If he thinks he may want to leave and someone's willing to sign him, no hard feelings whatsoever on my end.
[Mark Messier]: A big, bald attention whore with a stupid Easter Island-lookin face. - from who else? DaneykoIsGod!
Even when Marty comes back maybe Larry should put Clemmensen to be on the goal during the shootouts.
Can the coach do that ? Switch the goalies 5 seconds to go in overtime? - Most priceless quote ever posted on a message board.
Martin Brodeur: THE MOST ALL-TIME WINS!, 12 straight seasons of 30+ wins, 3 Stanley Cups, 4 Vezina Trophies, and zero respect from too many so-called Devils "fans" who are either too young or too bandwagon to remember the much darker days of Sean Burke, Craig Billington, Bob Sauve, Alain Chevrier, and the talented but overwhelmed Chico Resch, among many others.
It's easy to support a great player when he's playing at his very best. It takes a true fan to support that same player during those rare moments and stretches when he's not. Babe Ruth went 0-4 some games, and sometimes Wayne Gretzky was held pointless. There may be such a thing as greatness, but no such thing as absolute perfection every single night.

Theres unfinished business as far as im concerned. I would not be happy if the year after we almost win the cup, have so much young upcoming talent and a great core of players, he just bails on the team.He gave the Devils his very best for many many years, and has far more wins for one team than anyone else. And as much as I love and appreciate everything he's done, the Devils are going to have to move on eventually. It may not be the worst thing in the world, especially since he'd be leaving on a considerable high.
At any rate, he's a guy who really doesn't owe the Devils or the fans anything more than he's already given us. If he thinks he may want to leave and someone's willing to sign him, no hard feelings whatsoever on my end.

I'd be pretty ambivalent about Brodeur leaving, it's not like he has been worth his salary at all the last 2 years. If he thinks he should get paid for all those wins in the past, he's mistaken.

I honestly do not care either way, Brodeur played average throughtout the entire year and is not worth anywhere near 5 million yes he stepped up his gm in the last 2 rounds but still isnt worth that contract. We have to move on at some point.Theres unfinished business as far as im concerned. I would not be happy if the year after we almost win the cup, have so much young upcoming talent and a great core of players, he just bails on the team.
I would be estactic if he resigns, he plays for another team it is no big deal.

nonsense about the money. the devils will spend $55MM - $65MM in real cash on payroll regardless of their financial position.
