I'm as American as apple pie and Chevrolet, but I didn't even root against Marty then. I can honestly say I've NEVER rooted against him. Sure I wanted us to win gold in 2002, but I couldn't bring myself to actually cheer a goal against Marty.

That makes sense since Chevys haven't been really American in years.

and I rooted against Marty in the Olympics, country always comes before club for me.

At most you'd probably have to give up Tallinder, plus one of our d-prospects or a pick and that might even be stretching it. And you could replace Tallinder by bringing back Sal.

I mean hell, LAST time he was traded he only got Alex Auld and other junk in return, and he wasn't as toxic then as he is now. Getting him isn't the problem, having him is.

This. The mistake Vancouver made was signing Schneider to that extension BEFORE trading Luongo, because now they have $9 mil tied up in 2 goaltenders. They fvcked themselves even worse on a Luongo return. He'll go for peanuts when he goes, I have little doubt.

Vancouver can afford to hold on to him until a good offer comes around. And if they were content with junk, he would have been traded a long time ago.

Put it this way: it was a LOT easier to root for team USA in 2010 with choker boy in net for Canada. I wanted us to win in 02, but I didn't get excited when we scored. I couldn't bring myself to actually cheer against Marty. It would just be... Weird.

I mean, I cheered when we scored in the first game against Canada in 2010 when Marty was in net. It felt a little weird, but as far as I'm concerned, if his teammates can score against him no problem, then I can cheer against him.

If Marty goes, I hope the Devils re-sign Hedberg and work him in tandem with one of our young prospects. Hedberg has a good 45 games in him, and he could be an excellent mentor for a young, up-and-coming goaltender.

i dont know guys, you gotta remember this is a business. im all for loyalty to a player, and we have been to brodeur. i would hope for the same loyalty back. the only mary money issue we should be talking about is the discounted contract that marty is willing to take to help make his team better

Not rumors but a lot of speculation on twitter from credible guys (Andy Strickland, EJ Hradek) about Chicago's possible interest in Brodeur. Will be interesting to see if that picks up into any sort of credible rumor.
