Teammates love Hedberg and, in particular, he serves as a mentor to the young Swedes on the team.
Tom Gulitti @TGfireandice
I failed to mention this earlier, but I think bringing back Hedberg is invaluable for Devils. He has great relationship with Brodeur.

OK, Moose's salary can be bought out easily.
But I can't see how our chances of success in the post-season have increased with these 2 signings.
/me thinks this year #30 over-achieved & I do not see it happening again in 9-10 months time....

This is EXACTLY what I had said a little while back about bringing back Hedberg. I know a lot of people don't think about it like that, but having a vet around to kinda be like a father figure to them, to mentor, to just help them adjust to life in the NHL and life in NJ for that matter. It's a big thing for these young guys, especially until they get the security of their first contract that has that 7th digit in it.

“I think winning against them in the big stage, not just for me, but for the fans of New Jersey, people that are supporting us and always take a second seat to these guys for whatever reason, now they’ve got to be pretty happy going to work and going to school and doing all their things that they do." - Martin Brodeur

The New Jersey Devils win Stanley Cups everywhere:
-NHL record for most road wins in the playoffs - 10-1 in '95 and 10-2 in '00
-NHL record for most home wins in the playoffs - 12-1 in '03

Too bad the difference between Moose passing on 500k extra and Zach passing on $30 million or so is astronomical.
The sad truth!
2011= KOVALCUP

Pretty much tells you what LL thinks about the goalies in the system...guess he thinks anyone who has a shot is at least a year away, but more likely two.
Yeah but one of those guys better be close to ready next year at least, I'm not counting on a 41-year old Marty and 41-year old Moose staying healthy throughout the whole season, I'm not sure a 40-year old Marty and Moose can do that, although if one of them is healthy at all times that works.
