I would be willing to bet that if we don't sign a remaining UFA forward or pull off a trade before the season begins, Tedenby will be on the squad come opening day. I dont think any of the other guys you mentioned will be. I also don't see Harrold playing a lot of wing after his defensive performance during the playoffs unless it was an injury situation.

Yeah I think Hoeffel is too young and Whitney is too small. Darcy Zajac might get a chance just to entice Travis to sign a long term deal. But I'm not sure about Tedenby. He was end down to Albany because of his lazy play and he didn't do anything to raise his stock while down there. He might get some playing time during the preseason but I'm not gonna hold my breath that he makes the team.

If we are able to trade any combination of our starting defenders (Tallinder, Greene, Volchenkov) with one of our defensive prospect (Urbom, Burlon, Gelinas) with maybe a 2nd or 3rd or even Tedenby, we might be able to land Gagner or Hemsky from Edmonton. Maybe throw in Omark somehow. I just don't see us landing anything of great value by trade. I'd rather go for Gagner and Omark than Hemsky if possible. Hemsky is too old and fragile for us to be parting with anything significant.

I actually didn't realize Hemsky is only 28. I thought he was in his mid 30's. I'm warming up to the idea of Hemsky even though he is very injury prone.

As for Omark, he's just like Tedenby but in an Oilers jersey. Maybe a change of environment would be good for both of them.

I say trade for Bobby Ryan. He has almost the same stats , he's younger and cheaper. Trade a prospect and a draft pick and the hole is filled plus he's from jersey

He's from Cherry Hill and grew up a Flyers fan.

We do not have the assets for Bobby Ryan unless you want to give up Henrique. Anaheim is adamant about getting a center back. It would take Henrique - Gelinas - 3rd Round pick just to get Anaheim to listen. If the price drops, maybe they'd take Josefson, but we're not getting Bobby Ryan here without one of useful young guys that are already on the team.

After seeing all of this play out, I'm afraid there is no way Zajac does re-sign prior to free agency. Seeing what Zach got and playing a more valuable position, what is in it for Zajac to re-sign now? I could see insurance of potentially getting hurt or something.

Exactly how I feel. I think we re-sign Sykora, Tedenby is on the team from day one, and we ride till we die. I wouldnt be surprised to see someone brought in, but throw a dart at the UFA list and see where it hits.

I'd be be more stunned if we signed Semin or traded for a big name (Ryan/Nash) than I would be when we got Kovalchuk for that crap we tossed Atlanta.

I sadly agree. Based on Lou's track record of signings after big name losses it's pretty evident he'll little or pretty much nothing.

i don't see this. the devils have 8 d under contract. one is going to be moved and right now, you have a bunch of teams looking for defensemen and really, only bouwmeester out there. a guy like andy greene is an EXCELLENT piece to get. this is a guy who was on the top pairing of a team that went to the SCF and is making less than $4MM.

Again, re: Bobby Ryan- you have him for 3 years (correct me if I'm wrong) before he bolts to the Phailures, which is what he'll do about 5 seconds after his contract expires. Giving up valuable assets for this clown would be incredibly stupid. I want no part of him.
