I know Lou always try to sign the players at the cheapest possible prices, but the fact that he dug so much on that deal and signed Fayne at 1.3 per year does that mean that he is leaving as much cap as possible for possibly a couple of big names via FA or trades ?

Or we're so broke we're saving every nickel and dime possible to skirt the floor Of course that doesn't explain the alleged offer to Zach but the team's finances have been a mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enigma for a year and a half.

I remember when the Devils got Andy Greene for two years for $1.5 million total a few years back, and that was for a player that was in and out of the lineup. Now a few years later the Devils get Fayne for $500,000 more a year, and he's been arguably the team's best defenseman.
