My bad for the blow up in the other thread last night. I was in a really weird place and wasn't acting like my usual self. Since I'm pretty much hitting bottom in my personal life I'm going to make a lot of changes in terms of treatment and activities. One of those is going to be spending very little time online outside of business until I get my head screwed on better. I'll still post all the updates since I'd feel bad if I bailed mid-season but overall I'm going to take some time to start eating better, working out again, and finding some sort of therapy option that (hopefully) works. My apologies to all those offended last night. I know I was in the wrong with my short and irrational fuse that pops out time to time. Apologies to DM for doing it on his site.

The best advice I can give you is keep busy and make your goals attainable. Start small, bite off too much and it can get overwhelming. Good luck and be safe. Thanks for the updates too, they're always great.

if even doing the updates disrupts your personal life even .01%, focus on yourself and we'll find the stats ourselves, personal well-being's more important than Blake Pietila's stats  :P  I've had problems w/ personal well-being and therapy being useless and I know any advice probably isn't gonna help much since it's such a personal thing, but just try your best to talk it out and don't hold everything in. And take pleasure in the little things. Me focusing on myself and making myself happy instead of worry about other people really helped.

Thanks again everyone! We're getting to the home stretch of the prospect year. The games featuring Devils prospects:

CCHA
Quarterfinals March 15-17 (Best of 3)
1. Miami (Coleman) vs. 11. Michigan State
3. Western Michigan vs. 7. Michigan (Merrill)
4. Ohio State (Gedig) vs. 5. Ferris State

WCHA
1st Round March 15-17 (Best of 3)
4. Wisconsin (Faust) vs. 9. Minnesota-Duluth
3. North Dakota (Rodwell) vs. 10. Michigan Tech (Pietila)
2. Minnesota (Helgeson) vs. 11. Bemidji St.

Teams re-seed at the end of every round in both tournaments but I like to keep their original number.

The CHL season ends this weekend and all the Devils prospects except Ben Johnson (Windsor) will be playing in the playoffs.

Just want to re-iterate what everyone's saying - I love these updates.  When you first started doing them, I was like 'wow, this is overkill', but it's been real fun watching Reid Boucher turn from OHL ho hum first-liner to OHL superstar.  No need to feel obligated to do it, you've already done so much this season.

Thanks! I actually enjoy putting these updates together and following the prospects this closely. I just felt that I was spending too much of my free time inside and on the computer instead of getting oustide and exercising with some fresh air. With depression, it's the little changes you can make that can really go a long way to feeling better on a day to day basis.

Severson continues to be impressive.

How do you feel about Gavrus?

It appears Gavrus has finally settled in and adjusted to coming back to the OHL in recent weeks. Hopefully his recent play is more in line with the player he can be than what he was showing but I'll cut him some slack since I can only imagine that moving across the ocean (again) can be a stressful adjustment.

I have never seen him play but everything I read implies that he has some offensive upside but he really needs to adjust to the physicality of the NA game. It should be interesting to see how he plays in the playoffs this year - can he produce like he has recently and can he avoid suffering another injury unlike last year? He's on a solid team, hopefully they make a run and he is a big part of it.

He is a project pick more likely to not make it but the great thing is the Devils can be very patient with him. He could spend next year as an overager in junior, further adjusting to the NA game and focusing on staying healthy for a full year in one place, then move onto the AHL.

I don't think Gavrus is eligible for the AHL next year anyway, fiesty.  He doesn't turn 20 until next year.

Just did a quick comparison and Severson has much better numbers than Shea Weber when Weber was a year older. Reading a little too much into it, but still it's hard not to be tempted by the comparisons. Same junior team, both second round picks, and observers were talking about Severson being a steal in the second round. Nice to know he's under contract. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

CCHA Quarterfinals (Best of 3)
#1 Miami defeated #11 Michigan State 4-1 (Win Series 2-1)
Blake Coleman C: DNP - Asked reporter if he was a healthy scratch: "Depends on who you ask. My understanding is that he feels he can play, but not exactly 100 percent."

#4 Ohio State defeated #5 Ferris State 3-2 (Win Series 2-1)
Curtis Gedig D: Goal (PP), Assist, +1, 2 Shots
Series: 3 GP 1-4-5 +1 0 PIM

WCHA 1st Round (Best of 3)
#3 North Dakota defeated #10 Michigan Tech 6-0 (Win Series 2-1)
Derek Rodwell RW: DNP (Healthy)
Blake Pietila LW: -3, 1 Shot, 5/9 Faceoffs
Final Stats: 35 GP 14-10-24 -7 44 PIM 15.38 SH% 2.6 SH/GP

---

CCHA

1 Miami (Coleman) and 7 Michigan (Merrill) will square off in the CCHA semifinals on Saturday as well as 4 Ohio State (Gedig) vs. 2 Notre Dame. I believe those games will be televised but I gotta double check. The last ever CCHA final is the following day. Miami will make the NCAA tournament no matter what but Michigan and Ohio State will need to win the CCHA to get in.

WCHA

Pietila's team will not make the NCAA tournament. 2 Minnesota has a bye to the WCHA semifinals on Friday. 3 NoDak (Rodwell) will take on 8 Colorado College in the quarterfinals on Thursday. 4 Wisconsin (Faust) will take on 6 Minnesota State on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

I noticed that too. I remember Conte talked about how they couldn't believe he dropped that far. I think most guys compare his game to Seabrook's, rather than Weber. Imagine Larsson, Severson, Merrill, Gelinas, Fayne and Urbom patrolling the blue line. Of course not all of these guys are gonna hit their ceiling, but we're definitely loaded on D
