I wouldn't be surprised if Severson only gets in one game. I don't think it has anything to do with buyouts, it's just that NJ likes to let players get a peek at the next level. I'm a little surprised Scarlett isn't going, though.

Good to see Severson and Merrill produce offensively. That +/- for Merrill is meh, but Albany is pretty bad

Hmm, this could be less than ideal....
"Matteau came back from Baie-Comeau on the bus with the fans, not the team bus. He was benched the whole 3rd period."
"Joel Bouchard(GM/coach) called a press conference for tomorrow at noon to talk about Matteau.. Don't think that's a good sign"
Matteau's been benched and criticized by the coaching staff (including his father) this year. I don't know whether this is all his fault, perhaps his dad being extra hard on him, or some sort of combination.
Don Lucia who is a respected coach for the Minnesota Gophers has mentioned in the past how complicated it could be to coach a son as he felt like he ended up being unfair to his son, Tony so he didn't appear to show favortism, during his time at Minnesota which is one reason why Mario went to Notre Dame. Just speculating though, who knows what the deal is Matteau.

i don't think we should really care at all. there was absolutely no talk of him not being a model citizen while he was here. i know the guys liked him and thought he was a good kid. if, perhaps, he copped a bit of a "big time" attitude about having been an nhl player coming back to help the boys, i can let it slide. the kid is 18 and amazingly made the nhl the year he was drafted.

I'm not concerned about his attitude or anything, I'm just going to be bummed if Armada aren't going to play him again this year - then Devils prospect following season will be over. ![]()

Perhaps Matteau was the one who left Armada? Link to original RDS article (in French).
Here's google's translation but maybe one of our French speaking posters can clarify this better:
Matteau would desert the Armada
Stefan Matteau son of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada would not appreciate being benched in the second game of the series against the Baie-Comeau and he could have left the team.
The Director General Joel Bouchard has called a press conference Monday to provide an update on this issue.
The coach of the Armada, Jean-François Houle has not used his star striker after he received a punishment for giving a blow in a 2-1 loss on Saturday. Blainville-Boisbriand falling behind 0-2 in the series.
After the game, he would not accompany his teammates to go home after the second meeting. It would be returned to the bus supporters.

Interesting stuff.
“I think winning against them in the big stage, not just for me, but for the fans of New Jersey, people that are supporting us and always take a second seat to these guys for whatever reason, now they’ve got to be pretty happy going to work and going to school and doing all their things that they do." - Martin Brodeur

According to Buzzing the Net, the Armada GM will hold his press conference to clarify the situation at 9:30 tomorrow. I guess we'll get their side of the story, who knows if we'll ever get Matteau (and apparently his father now) side.
