In the past three years I lived in New Brunswick, Howell, and Manchester. All three are completely different ways of life. There is indeed a Central Jersey. I would call New Brunswick the end of North Jersey.Ok, I live in Hunterdon County, but I agree that Central NJ is a myth. First of all, I think anything withing 10 miles of 78 and everything north of that is North NJ, anything south of that, but west of the parkway is PA and everything along the coast is the shore. Central Jersey may claim to be different than North NJ, but it's just North NJ transplants living in an area that has a farm here and there, so it's essentially no different. The people might like to pretend things move "slower" or that they have "small town charm", but that's all just because they've fooled themselves into thinking that since they left for the suburbs in search of those things. And then if things really are slower or at least different than they are in North NJ, then they're South NJ and it's backwater, Deliverance sh!t going down and that might as well be Amish country for all I know.
...I love this conversation, its so interesting to hear all of these opinions

“I think winning against them in the big stage, not just for me, but for the fans of New Jersey, people that are supporting us and always take a second seat to these guys for whatever reason, now they’ve got to be pretty happy going to work and going to school and doing all their things that they do." - Martin Brodeur

But central NJ definitely exists. There's a large swath of NJ that doesn't associate itself with the Newark-and-north, Route 17/Route 3, rich suburb northern areas, nor associates itself with the AC-to-Philly, Pine Barrons, rural southern areas.

I'm curious- who on this board is a Devils fan despite having no ties to NJ?
Not sure if this pertains to me but I've said this before on here, I've always lived in Staten Island but my mom grew up in New Jersey and the Devils were the first game I was ever taken to and she would take me to the Meadowlands because she preferred driving there then having to drive to or get into the city.
I live closer to the Meadowlands and now Newark then probably the majority of this board. I use to leave my house at 7pm and be parked and in my seat before the anthem back when games were at the meadowlands. Can't do that nowadays with Newark since the parking takes a bit longer but I can be home in less then 25 minutes after a game ends in Newark and I've been home before the post game show on the radio ends numerous times.

In Sussex County the big majority are Devils fans as far as I can tell. I’ve seen many houses with Devils flags and cars with Devils sticker. I hardly see anything Rangers related. With one exception, all the people I deal with here who care for hockey root for the Devils.I'm looking at homes in the Sparta/Newton area, wonder what the local team of choice is...

Hey he's a Devils fan from NY, if anything that's a bigger slap in the face to the Rangers
I know a few Devils fans from Staten Island (and a few Ranger fans).. All of them agree that the Devils are easier to get to

I was trying to be as inflammatory as possible, so you're welcome, lol. I gotta keep myself occupied during this painstakingly slow off-season, ya know?

Exactly! I can't lie after game 6 of the ECF I was strutting around town in my Devils gear the next day feeling pretty good!

Haha so was I.. I went in to watch a show and a group of hispanic looking kids yelled some obscenities at me.. I don't think they realized how much I was enjoying their anger

I've only been to Staten Island once so I'm not familiar with the area.
The Devils are easily the least bandwagoned team in the league. No one in my area jumped on board after game 6.

I'm from Orange County, NY. I became a fan in the early 90's because of a mix of pure luck, the red and black jerseys, and NHL 93.
