A better skating Clarkson minus the grit. Also has more offensive awareness than Clarkie.

So he is clarkson, without grit? With more offensive awareness?
So he's nothing like clarkson then?
Or just a blue collar, lunch pail mentality...?
Anybody else care to weigh in?

Yeah, back to Russia hopefully
Bring Sykora back, squeeze the last bit of hockey he has left and we can cut him loose if he plays that bad

TradeSo who gets the call in place of Henrique? Tedenby is definitely going to be on the roster come opening night which kinda shows how weak we are at the forward position.

My only suggestion for a UFA signing is to nab Eric Fehr as a depth player, put him onto the 3rd line. With 3rd line icetime, he'll be good for 10-15 goals, 25-30 points, and he'll be cheap since he's coming off a poor season statistically... 2 goals in 35 games, but only shot 3.7% following rehab from double shoulder surgery.
Butler should see Sykora's PP time on the 2nd unit, I really don't see the need to re-up Sykora. Maybe he gets a camp invite again to prove himself... could do decently since it's more of a sprint to the finish line.

While I agree he's not a prototypical first line player, he's hung with top-flight players before. Ottawa used him with Spezza and Michalek two years ago when he put up 20+ points in 30-some games. When he's hot, he can score. Why are people insisting that Butler play on the first line. And how has nobody called them out for this.
the FIRST line?!?!

I'm all for Eric Fehr. He was pretty good with the Caps. I'm hoping Lou does do a little wheeling and dealing before the season. Perhaps he didn't make that many moves in the off season because of the ownership situation and anticipation of the lockout. Now he's good to go.

lJust saying, Semin would've looked good on the second line for 5m/ year or whatever he signed for. Just for the pure goal scoring ability.

David Clarkson as a 2nd line winger makes me borderline nauseas

And his two goals when he was on the Jets?

I agree though I wonder if they are going to give him one last shot - not that I expect him to succeed if they do.Tedenby has no business playing in the NHL.

Again, coming off shoulder surgery and only got into games mid-season, so he was playing serious catch-up. Coming back from shoulder surgery is tough, let alone surgery on both shoulders. And he shot only 3.7% instead of his usual 8%. If he averaged the same shot rate as last year with WPG over a full season (probable) but shot in his usual range, he would have finished right around 10-15 goals. And his two goals when he was on the Jets?

Surplus of D and lack of O. I would hate to see Fayne or Greene moved because of the log jam on the blue line.Volchenkov was an anchor of the best penalty kill in NHL history last year. I don't understand this hostility.
Sykora, OTOH, faded as the year went on and earned his playoff benching. He is done.
