Very weird timing, but Leafs are under new ownership now, and there was a change with the higher-ups at MLSE. Probably a decision from the new suits there.

Rumor has it that Luongo is the center of this controversy.
And when I say "rumor has it", I mean that I read that on hfboards, so it's not credible in the slightest.

On Canadian radio speculation about something extracurricular with another MLSE employee. I don't think this has anything to do with Luongo.

I feel like it has to be. 8 months at the status quo. One week away from the season, end of the lockout, potential megatrade with Luongo rumored to happen on Saturday, and this is when they fire him? My first guess is that something's gone terribly wrong in the deal.

The deal can't be consummated until Sunday anyway. Media people are saying it has nothing to do with that.
