I agree that he can be good for NJ, and may actually be the missing link on this team.
With a fully healthy roster:
Henrique-Zajac-Kovalchuk
Elias/Josefson-Josefson/Elias-Zubrus
Tedenby-Gomez-Clarkson
CBGB/goons
Looks really solid, in my opinion. Not going to get my hopes up though, if the rumors are true about him wanting to be in the West. 3rd line might be a D hazard, I don't exactly remember Gomez's defensive game so much.
But whatever the case may be, I'm thinking a definite top 6 player is not quite as essential as I once thought it was. Somebody who could play either 2nd or 3rd line minutes will be adequate, although not ideal.

[Mark Messier]: A big, bald attention whore with a stupid Easter Island-lookin face. - from who else? DaneykoIsGod!
Even when Marty comes back maybe Larry should put Clemmensen to be on the goal during the shootouts.
Can the coach do that ? Switch the goalies 5 seconds to go in overtime? - Most priceless quote ever posted on a message board.
Martin Brodeur: THE MOST ALL-TIME WINS!, 12 straight seasons of 30+ wins, 3 Stanley Cups, 4 Vezina Trophies, and zero respect from too many so-called Devils "fans" who are either too young or too bandwagon to remember the much darker days of Sean Burke, Craig Billington, Bob Sauve, Alain Chevrier, and the talented but overwhelmed Chico Resch, among many others.
It's easy to support a great player when he's playing at his very best. It takes a true fan to support that same player during those rare moments and stretches when he's not. Babe Ruth went 0-4 some games, and sometimes Wayne Gretzky was held pointless. There may be such a thing as greatness, but no such thing as absolute perfection every single night.

Good, I for one am glad Lou didn't go to the well of ex-Devils yet again. Those moves have rarely worked out, or made much of an impact.
But almost every place (incl TG) has said that we DID look into it.
He just wanted to go out west. If Larry was still here, he probably would've been signed here.
And I agree with you. I was okay with this b/c the risk was so low, but I don't care that we didn't get him.

Yeah, I phrased/worded it wrong. I'm just glad he went somewhere else.

gomez to sharks for 1 year 700k pro rated.
The ESPN on my iPhone machine said the same thing. I didn't see anything on TSN or a quick glance of Twitter, but I guess it's done soon.
