He has to be happy right now compared to his situation in LA.
I just wonder if he could be had for cheap... I wouldn't want to pay him anything serious just yet... so maybe a 2 year deal; it's best for both sides in managing risk/reward.

He has to love it here, centering a top line like he wanted and he has a bunch of Russian guys to mentor him. Kovy Poni Volch Zubs, its a great locker room for the kid to be in.

“I think winning against them in the big stage, not just for me, but for the fans of New Jersey, people that are supporting us and always take a second seat to these guys for whatever reason, now they’ve got to be pretty happy going to work and going to school and doing all their things that they do." - Martin Brodeur

Need one more Russian defenseman to roll out the Russian 5
Another Russian on the team would just make it four...

Guys, you even don't know about the players of your team
Zubrus is NOT Russian, he's Lithuanian, Ponikarovsky is NOT Russian, he's from Ukraine.. And if you don't understand the difference, it's your problem.
holy sh!t... i always thought Lithuanian was some kind of decease like being diabetic or something... the more you know ![]()

Would it be historically acceptable to call them the USSR 5 then?

that works as a cute thing i guess but do we really need gimmicky names? if so call it the eastern block line.

When I meant he is surrounded by Russians he is surrounded by guys who speak Russian. Poni and Zubs are not Russian but they speak Russian....

they all used to be Russia/USSR when the majority of them were born (except maybe Loktionov) so good enough

Stop being an ignorant American.
You don't make comments like that to people from the former satellites.

Its just about time. I'd be comfortable with extending this kid right now. He has absolutely left Josefson in the dust and become a big part of this team. And for a 5th rounder?
he's not really here to replace josefson. they are different types of players and were expected to be different types of players. josefson has never been a scorer in his career. he's a solid two way center that has good hockey smarts and knows where to be.
loktionov is a skill guy whose offense is supposed to carry him.

Zajac, Henrique, Loki, Josefson...I'm liking our depth at C for years to come.

You're right about that, I was just talking about passing him on the organizational depth chart. I wasn't intending for it to come across as I was comparing the styles they play. Its just about time.
