Anyway, Zach's numbers after three starts:  0-1, 3.86 ERA, 14 IP, 17 H, 9 R, 6 ER, 6 BB, 17 K, 1.64 WHIP.  Outside of the Ks, not exactly wow numbers, but neither were Harvey's AAA stats (though they were solid), and Zach's numbers are clearly going to be hurt by pitching in the PCL.  The guess here is that he's going to do enough to get a call-up this year...he's really going to have to struggle not to.

For what it's worth:

Wheeler 9 starts in AAA (IL and PCL combined): 3.45 ERA, 24.2 K%, 11.1 BB%, 0.57 HR/9
Harvey's first 9 starts in AAA (IL only): 4.31 ERA, 23.6 K%, 10.1 BB%, 0.56 HR/9

Eh, the fewer Laffey/Hefner starts we have to deal with early in the season the better - although it might not matter this week since they wisely want to keep Niese out of the Colorado cold.  Of course we'll pay the piper for it at 'some' point, but hopefully the rotation will be better by then (Marcum, Wheeler, etc).

yea Marcum seems to be inching closer. He's solid and should bolster the 3 spot, he's been a very solid below the radar pitcher since 2008. Even throwing in the AL East

Interesting, though Zach's numbers are clearly going to be harder to read going forward because of that damned PCL.  Hopefully, he gets through his 10-15 starts out there intact, comes to the Mets, and never has to worry about the PCL again.

[Mark Messier]: A big, bald attention whore with a stupid Easter Island-lookin face. - from who else? DaneykoIsGod!

Even when Marty comes back maybe Larry should put Clemmensen to be on the goal during the shootouts.
Can the coach do that ? Switch the goalies 5 seconds to go in overtime?

Martin Brodeur: THE MOST ALL-TIME WINS!, 12 straight seasons of 30+ wins, 3 Stanley Cups, 4 Vezina Trophies, and zero respect from too many so-called Devils "fans" who are either too young or too bandwagon to remember the much darker days of Sean Burke, Craig Billington, Bob Sauve, Alain Chevrier, and the talented but overwhelmed Chico Resch, among many others.

It's easy to support a great player when he's playing at his very best. It takes a true fan to support that same player during those rare moments and stretches when he's not. Babe Ruth went 0-4 some games, and sometimes Wayne Gretzky was held pointless. There may be such a thing as greatness, but no such thing as absolute perfection every single night.

Agreed, the less starts those two make, the better off the Mets are.  They're stopgap chum, nothing more.

A rotation of Niese, Harvey, Wheeler, Marcum and Gee will be fun to watch, especially since all five have a chance to figure into the Mets' plans, even if the results aren't always pretty this season.

Laffey is going the 2nd game of tonight's doubleheader and Hefner goes tomorrow so we're not really benefiting in any way from these postponed games. We'll need a starter for Saturday's game now, which has to be Collin McHugh. So basically you're talking about 3 fringe or non-ML starters making 3 out of the next 6 starts: Laffey tonight, Henfer tomorrow, and McHugh on Saturday.

I really hope Marcum comes back soon.

Laffey is going the 2nd game of tonight's doubleheader and Hefner goes tomorrow so we're not really benefiting in any way from these postponed games. It's actually worse because now we'll need another starter for Saturday, probably Collin McHugh. I like McHugh more than I do Laffey, certainly, but he'll be yet another non-Major League arm making a start for this team.

The price of rebuilding/transitioning...as long as all goes according to plan and everyone stays healthy, we shouldn't have to see these guys next season.  Doesn't make them easier on the eyes...does suck knowing those guys give you a minimal chance to win, unless the other guy on the mound is equally untalented.

Some bad news on the farm last night: Luis Mateo, one of the better arms in the system, made a spot start for AA and left the game with an elbow injury. Someone in attendance claimed his fastball was up to 95 in the previous inning and was then low-80's to start the next inning before he left the game. Not good. Totally expecting the worst here, ugh.

Some better news: Brandon Nimmo has been on fire making his full season debut (18-for-42) and launched his first homer of the season last night. Travis d'Arnaud also launched his first homer of the season last night as part of a 1-for-2 effort with 3 walks. His walk rate definitely bares watching. Last season in AAA, he walked just 19 times in 303 PA. It's very early and this could very well be a blip, but he's already walked 12 times in just 43 PA this year.

that ball held up in the air long enough to where Baxter has to get it. It was like a bloop double

Wow Lyon misses an easy comebacker that allows CarGo to step in as tying run. He promptly singles. Tying run now on base with Parnell entering in the 8th with 2 out. Oh boy.

And now CarGo steals 2nd uncontested. WOW. WAKE UP.

Wright has absolutely atrocious range. He has to come up with that hit by Pacheco. But of course it's off Parnell so it's going to be hit hard.

He's not a closer...even though today isn't really his fault. But he's generally too scared of tight situations. Even the last out was very well hit to Baxter.

That 8th was a joke. They fvcked everything up every which way

The offense has completely vanished after 8 runs. Granted it should've been enough anyway

Is the Rockies bullpen this good? I can't name anyone...

And it all started with Murphy refusing to take the walk Ottavino was handing him with the bases loaded.
