The question with him will be his health.  Can the guy actually survive a season?

Speaking of which...97 pitches through 7 and five runs to work with.  Does Terry give Mejia the 8th?

I always thought the biggest problem with Mejia is that they rushed him to the bigs so quickly cause Jerry was trying to save his job, and they were shuttling him back and forth between the pen and starting Joba-style because of it.  Just like Joba he broke down.

But yeah today was a good sign, though the Nats are a surprisingly poor offensive team this year.

The New Jersey Devils win Stanley Cups everywhere:
-NHL record for most road wins in the playoffs - 10-1 in '95 and 10-2 in '00
-NHL record for most home wins in the playoffs - 12-1 in '03

Mejia actually will need surgery in the offseason to remove bone spurs, will pitch through it this year

lol well he probably is made of glass anyway though the way he was used early in his career surely didn't help.

Mets can't even get to a totally-gassed Ohlendorf. This one isn't going well.

3-run homer for Ike, wow. 11-0!

File that one under "whoop" for "whoop-de-damn-do".  Good to see Ike can hit them when it really counts.

Even when Marty comes back maybe Larry should put Clemmensen to be on the goal during the shootouts.
Can the coach do that ? Switch the goalies 5 seconds to go in overtime?

Martin Brodeur: THE MOST ALL-TIME WINS!, 12 straight seasons of 30+ wins, 3 Stanley Cups, 4 Vezina Trophies, and zero respect from too many so-called Devils "fans" who are either too young or too bandwagon to remember the much darker days of Sean Burke, Craig Billington, Bob Sauve, Alain Chevrier, and the talented but overwhelmed Chico Resch, among many others.

It's easy to support a great player when he's playing at his very best. It takes a true fan to support that same player during those rare moments and stretches when he's not. Babe Ruth went 0-4 some games, and sometimes Wayne Gretzky was held pointless. There may be such a thing as greatness, but no such thing as absolute perfection every single night.

I really hope Terry doesn't run him out there for the 9th at 99 pitches. You never know though with Collins

Matt Harvey has been excellent and hasn't even had his best slider or curve tonight. Such a shame the run support is par for the course.

Harvey's ERA is down to 2.11.  His night is over.

Yeah, this could wind up being his career year...I can't expect to him to perform any better, or even match this.  Sucks it had to be on a rebuilding/transitioning team.

Ike will pinch hit for Harvey...you just KNOW he's going to strike out.

Guess they were afraid of him.

Horrible job by Lagares. 3-1 pitch and he goes fishing for some crap outside the zone

still not sold on him at the plate. in the field, sure...but he doesn't have much tact at the plate.

all we do is lose walkoffs in Washington (when we do lose in that ballpark) and they deserved it with that stupid Lagares AB. The fvck was he reaching for at 3-1. Should've been bases loaded 1 out for Murph

Kirk demoted, which basically means Mejia is staying and the Mets are probably going with a 6-man rotation for now.

What a disaster...Torres did fine his first couple of starts working his way out of trouble, but his luck has run out...this guy is an asset in the pen though. Let's put him back where he belongs
