Ohh well, 2nd regulation loss of the year, bad bounces. We just have to win the next one. We can't win them all. Next Game Boys!!

Skinner flopped down so bad on that Fayne penalty..It was an interference penalty, but it should have been a diving minor on Skinner as well. Also, I can say from experience, after getting hit with a hard shot all you want to do is hit something/someone. I don't blame Fayne on that one.

Is this serious? Blaming the loss on that?

Who took a dumb penalty that ked to the winning PP goal ? Yup.

Not saying it was a good penalty by Fayne, but that's not why we lost. We were outplayed the 1st 2 periods and looked bad. We didn't have enough tonight.

dude don't bring up embellishment. Was it Gionta who completely held the stick of a Hurricane and got the call against CAR? I would've been livid if i was a Canes fan...

Who couldn't get their stick on a puck that would have gone into an open net on said PK, allowing the Canes to come back with numbers?

Who decided to play bonus goalie and then banked the puck into his own net, right afterwards?

See how this game works?    If he doesn't take that penalty, they don't have that short handed chance to win the game, which was missed and then turned back on them, when Volch banked into his own net.

So, if anything, both teams had chances to score based off of that, one did, one didn't.

Hahah yea that was a blatant stick hold on Gionta for sure, but all I was trying to do was protect Fayne by saying the non call on Skinner 's flop was bad. I was not trying to blame the Officiating overall.

Not to mention if we're going to bench a defenseman every game for taking a penalty Zidlicky would have been benched like eight times already this season.

Its one thing to miss an opportunity or make a bad play under pressure

To push a guy and get a careless interference penalty with 10 min left is a bonehead play. Nothing less.

Plus i would have rather not have that scoring opportunity and at least get a point maybe at least

So is putting it in your own net.

There were a bunch of plays that needed to be made (or not made) in that sequence.   None were done the right way.   Pinning it on one guy is oversimplification.    Would be like blaming Greene for putting the first goal into his own net.   Who cares, it was going in there anyway.

Some people just have to put the big boy pants on and realize they're probably not going to win 35 games this season.

I wasn't entirely disappointed with the effort tonight. The passion was not there toward the beginning, but the second half of the game was pretty good. If the Devils got lucky with a couple of bounces, they could have won this one. I wasn't so happy with the D tonight. There were a lot of sloppy plays and some unneeded penalties, it seemed.

On offense, though, some of those guys were flying. Kovy was all over the place. Elias looked great as well. I thought Henrique and Clarkson didn't have their best games, but Butler is showing that he may be 1st line quality after all. Josefson, too, was looking more confident than ever on the puck. I am really hoping that he gets some more time with someone other than Barch. And though it has been a while that he has appeared on the score sheet, I was impressed with Zajac's offensive game tonight.  He was more aggressive and confident than I have seen so far this season. The goals will come soon, I'm sure.

But damn....those top two lines on Carolina are good.

I'm glad we lost. If we won after an effort like that, we would've strolled into Friday's game vs. a desperate Flyerrs team arrogant, cocky, and probably experience a more embarrassing fate than we will now after a few days of rest and practice. Something tells me someone like DeBoer agrees with me.

Fine loss - the Devils were coming off a 7 games in 11 days stretch, which is the most you can play in 11 days in the NHL.  They didn't play well, but they weren't awful either - breakdowns, giveaways, pucks rolling off sticks, etc. were all featured, but there were lots of chances off the rush.  I thought Kovalchuk had his best game tonight, too.  Fayne's penalty is whatever, he's one of the most disciplined defensemen in the league, it happens.

Fayne in the lineup is better than Fayne out of the lineup. I think we were 0-3 without him.

To be honest I didn't even think Jokinen's penalty on Kovy should have been called. He did a great job of drawing it though by keeping his legs moving.

We certainly missed on a few big chances, but overall we just got outplayed. PP was horrible besides our first one.
