one thing that we had problems with last night and it's something i've been saying for awhile now. Our breakouts of our zone sucks, especially against team putting a big forecheck and a fight like we are in the offensive zone.
Most of our breakout attempts will go like this... the dman will get the puck and rock it around the boards (and since our plays and system is mostly working around the boards we need guys there) so there will be a guy standing still around the hashmark with a guy on his back... so that guy will have to either
1- try to chip the puck out of that rocket slapper around the boards hoping that it bounces out of the zone so that our center rush to win that fight cause a dman of the other team is also there waiting for that puck. but for it to work you have to win a few fight and race and when we can finally get it in the neutral zone we're still along the board with a guy coming at you so they dump. But everyone is so far back that they can't win the race for that dump and chase.
2- Get the puck and keep it in his skates and fight along the boards and try to get it out to another teammates so then we may be able to skate it out. But most of the time the guy getting the puck have no speed as they are in motion when they get it and they really don't do the cross ice neutral zone pass toooo often, i know why but thats what it is.
the "problem" with that is that again, we're setting up ourselves for constant battles and battles and most of the puck that way were simply giving the puck to the other team while we had possession and we have to re-win the puck and start over and sometimes it takes like 4 breakout attempts like that to actually get it out with guy having space to make a play.
like i said our guys are warriors and it seems to work but it's still a problem when we're getting pinned in our zone cause we simply keep on getting rid of our possession.
