The oilers need help on D, he's got one more year with a reasonable 2.250 cap hit.. Tallinder for Smyth and a pick/prospect?

They were saying on NHL Network today that it's the plan for the Oilers to give Smyth days off anyway. Nothing out of the ordinary from Edmonton, apparently.
But no, I wouldnt want him on our team even if they paid us to take him.

A few things. First, Smyth left a great thing in LA and a chance to win a Cup to go home. He asked management to be traded. He wants to play in Edmonton badly. Secondly, when he re-signed this off-season, apparently, it was discussed that he would be a healthy scratch from time to time.
Edit: I see it was mentioned earlier in the thread.

"The Stanley Cup has fallen from the Stars. The new millennium has its first Stanley Cup Champion, and it's the New Jersey Devils." Mike Miller calling the Devils winning the Stanley Cup.
"It goes to the captain and then there are handoffs during a skate around the ice" Mike Emrick as Scott Stevens is being presented the Stanley Cup.

He's damn near done, and Edmonton means a lot to him. They'll want more than he's worth to move him.
You don't turn this around in a couple shifts. Its going to take a little time, but I know the guys will come back. Because I can see it. -- Jacques Lemaire
