Hate to say it...the Devils are going to have to pay someone 6 million...all of the guys that can give them the offense they need are going to come at a price...

Unless you want 4 lines of slightly above average. Guys are going to find a team that well pay more...there are teams that have a ton of cap space

they absolutely don't have to do this. in fact, the guys that might get $6MM, they should not sign.

plan A should be stalberg and brunner - give them each 4/10.

henrique-loktionov-kovalchuk

elias-zajac-brunner

stalberg-josefson-zubrus

carter-gionta-bernier

that is a very good team. it might not have a ton of sexy names, but with the devils d and schneider taking as much of a role as is necessary to have a team save percentage that's .915 or better, that's gonna make the playoffs more times than it won't.

With Briere off the block I'd  be happy with Boyes and Grabovski. Grabovski would be better than Briere anyway since he's younger and can play a two way game.

the biting incident bothers me

Brunner is not getting 4/10.

What would you think is a reasonable deal based on a half season of decent play?

Raymond on left wing, Mueller on right wing.

This is my vote.

Losing some grit in Clarkson, but I'd be more than happy with these two guys.

Brunner is not getting 4/10.

Ville Leino got a monster contract based on about the same amount of time. I'd think he could easily get 4/16 or maybe 5/25 from a desperate team

as for Mueller, if Lou didn't go after him last year, I dunno why he'd change this year

Those numbers would be insane based on half a season of good play.

Leino had one 50 point season before Buffalo paid him bigger money. And he had multiple seasons of being hot garbage before that, which Brunner doesn't have

I was saying that Brunner would get more, but I guess that was unclear.  If he gets 4 years, it won't be for $10M.

Mueller is a better fit this year because Clarkson is gone.

Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice is also great, and would suffice.

Bob Mckenzie is guessing that we're getting Clowe

Ray Emery in PHI; Nathan Horton in CBJ; Ryane Clowe in NJ. But lots of intrigue, shouldn't be long after 12 noon that signings get done.

and Hockey360 is reporting that they think Clarkson will be back in NJ. (that after being saying for weeks that they were hearing Toronto would get him)

Ryan Clowe had 3 concussions last year? Don't like the sound of that or his chances of staying concussion free very long moving forward.

"The Stanley Cup has fallen from the Stars. The new millennium has its first Stanley Cup Champion, and it's the New Jersey Devils." Mike Miller calling the Devils winning the Stanley Cup.

"It goes to the captain and then there are handoffs during a skate around the ice" Mike Emrick as Scott Stevens is being presented the Stanley Cup.

All signs point to Clowe coming here but I've come to grips that Clarkson's a goner, no way he's coming back...
