My brother's architecture firm worked on Revel.. He designed the gaming floor and restaurant areas.. Said their management was completely stupid.. As much as he tried, they insisted on a lot of dead space (very notable by the check in desks which could hold a line of 200 people easy, but why) and he said the biggest issue was that their vision was to appeal to younger people (18-40) but charge a premium.. For some reason they forgot that young people don't make 50+ year old salaries and can't blow $300+ on a room plus $40 cover at the club plus $20 on a cheeseburger at Central They basically had the mentality that "if we build it, people will spend whatever it takes to come" and it just doesn't make sense with their intended market That said, Revel is awesome.. The rooms all basically have iPads that control everything from the TV to streaming Pandora, turning on and off lights, and closing/opening the shades.. The floor is gorgeous and the restaurants are nice.. Just too much money to do more than a few times a year if that

If you like getting the free drinks while in the casinos Ballys is one of the best because you can order straight from the slot machines instead of waiting for one of the drink girls to come by. Free mixed drinks + tip or $1 bottles of beer. Last year when wifey and I stayed in Ballys we'd be able to just keep a slow pace at the slots, drink for 2-3 hours and only lose $20-$30 bucks each...which is on par or less of what I'd spend at a bar.

Same here. I'm not a big gambler, but went to Bally's and played some cheap slots. My girlfriend and I were hammered and ended up up like $60 each haha.. Not bad for a couple of kids who never go gambling.

Hanging out in Manhattan usually, if I were to drink the amount that I drank at Bally's, would've run me like $150.

Yup! That's why I love Bally's. This year we are down for my daughters National Dance Competition which is held in Bally's, but, since that is being held there we are staying in Wyndham Skyline Towers since my parents have a timeshare there. As long as you can pace your slot button pushing, you can do well in terms of alchohol/cost compared to all other casino's for the simple fact you can just order and they come. You don't have to wait to find someone, order, then wait for them to fill the rest of their ticket to go fill it and bring your drink. Also, I like that Bally's gives you an actual bottle of beer for $1 instead of a tiny cup of draught beer.

Vegas mentality in AC just isn't going to work. Glad they realized that and are trying to change that image this year. Borgata was trying that also...but maybe not to as much of an extreme? I think they've been doing decent.

I went to Revel last summer for a Journey concert and it looked pretty nice. Stayed at the Showboat though, couldn't spend $500 for one night on a room at Revel, couldn't find any deals online. From what I saw it was a nice place, they just have the wrong business model

In terms of gambling the only games that interest me are blackjack and roulette. I have had some decent luck with them in the past but just never got that gambling bug.
Slots are boring to me and I never understood craps or baccarat. You look like you can win big at baccarat but its that game they have in every James Bond movie where 99% of the audience have no clue if he is winning or not since they don't understand the game and the dealer is usually speaking in a really dapper French accent ( the dealer in those movies is always French, even if its someplace else like South America). The only time people know if bond wins is by the reaction of the other players. I tried learning baccarat on the computer but I felt like I should be wearing a tuxedo while doing the tutorial.

I'm going to be staying at a timeshare this year but usually stay at ballys because I always get great rates and always get upgraded rooms due to their incompetence.

Funny you say that about Bally's, that was sort of the reason we received an ocean view suite instead of a deluxe ocean view room for my anniversary last year. At least they make up for it and upgrade you.

I'm at Wyndham Skyline this year, which is really nice. All efficiency suites I'm guessing. 1BR, 1BR deluxe and 2BR deluxe rooms. If you're staying here...it's really nice except they have basically 2 elevators for 32 floors or some crap. Takes forever. If that's where you're staying...let me know I'll give you a few good tips about the hotel and stuff.

Thanks and not sure where I am staying. It is my gf's parents time share and honestly not even sure how they can afford it.

First time at ballys got upgraded to a garden suite after our bathtub started getting sewage through the spout. Thank god neither was in when it happened.
Second time got updated to another suite when original room that we requested non smoking because my gf is sensitive to it reeked of smoke.
Third time we got upgraded to ocean view suite when original room had freshly stained pillows and hair all over the bed and bathroom when we got there. I'm not talking about head hair either...

If it's Wyndham Skyline, or if anyone else is staying there let me know. I can give a couple pointers just to make life easier when you go. Not thing all that huge but made my life easier being here...enough sidelining the Jagr to NJ thread...

On topic...I did see a nice mullet today.

It doesn't "fit" in AC and will probably never do solid business during the week under the current ownership.   Funny story:  Last December I entered the Revel football pick'em.   I went 8-7, no line, straight up.   Totally dreadful.   I was one of the 1,000 winners and got $25 slot play.   That's how little foot traffic they had.     I thought they sent the email to the wrong person when I got it.    AC needs cheap, and by cheap, I mean, relative cheap.  It needs quick service restaurants and free drinks at the poker bar and oodles of cheapo slot machines and multi-line gimmick video poker.   Cheap poker tournaments, etc.    You can have the high end stuff too, but if you cut off "cheap", you cut off almost all of your weekday business.   I've gone into the Mussel Bar a couple of times, I love their beer selection.   But whenever I've been in there there's a couple of people eating and a couple people drinking, they have to be losing hand over fist, and if the restaurants don't go out of business, they'll run for the hills when their leases are up.

I could see him contributing to the PP but i couldn't justify paying more than 1.8/1yr

I don't really understand the logic on the salaries proposed here.. Jagr would have been our top scorer last season. Now that Kovy is gone, we have noone that brings the same thing to our PP as Jagr could. He is also clearly still in good shape, and contributed a lot to the Bruins playoff run. I don't understand why you're perfectly content with paying Elias/Zajac $5.5M, and then conclude with $1.8M as the absolute max for Jagr.. I think Jagr at $2,5-3M would be well worth it.

At this point I would give Jagr a little over $3M if that is what it took.  He can still be productive, brings experience and leadership and could definitely help the now Big-Russian-less PP.

I would think if you limit his icetime a bit and give him some games off here and there that he would still be fresh for the playoffs. I'm just not sure how Jagr would take being a healthy scratch for the sake of keeping him fresh for later in the season.

I think jagr could definently help this team out in the departments its going to need it such as the pp and scoring.. The guy is an antique but still has a little gas left in his tank, would just be concerned towards the end of the season...

Just taking into account all the reports of Jagr's manic conditioning and practicing habits, you have to think there's no way he'd be happy with being scratched, just for the sake of giving him a night off.  I actually like that in a player...shows competitive spirit.

Jágrův change? Hottest variant are truly Devils

It seems that the denouement near future Jaromir Jagr may have, as we reported yesterday iSport.cz server, the name of the New Jersey Devils. It is to this club aimed clues and resources daily Sport. According to one of them yesterday Czech veteran was actually personally inspect Prudential Center, the home club hall in which it operates and other Czech icon - Patrik Elias. The agreement could occur in the next few hours or days.

Jaromir Jagr, New Jersey Devils. Perhaps over time this connection will actually be a reality. The fact that he was yesterday inspect star striker hall in which the club plays on Twitter speculated yesterday. Someone striker spotted as in the bowels passes accompanied by Lou Lamoriello, general manager.

And according to the information daily Sport yesterday Jagr really was in New Jersey. Then he flew back to the other place in America, where they spend a short holiday before returning to the Czech Republic.

The fact that Jagr was directly okouknout to new premises in which it myself while playing as a guest several times, does not necessarily mean a definitive agreement. Yet precisely Devils are now the favorite. A really hot one option.

In the game there are other teams around New York City. Rangers and Philadelphia also nearby. Nevertheless, the Devils now lead the imaginary scale.

"I'm very curious to see what happens," said the striker Patrik Elias, New Jersey symbol. He has been active in the club since 1995. The Devils still plays defender Marek Zidlicky.

Devils come into consideration especially because they have more available funds, will necessarily hustling compensation for fugitive scorer Ilja Kovalchuk, who has decided to leave to St. Petersburg.
