Again, Zajac was not performing under the terms of his new contract extension in 12-13. If we was then i'd agree 100%. He hasn't played a game under his new extension yet, so you can't say he's not worth the terms. You're trying to corelate a bad year under an old contract to an extension that hasn't begun yet.

Im not sure why you keep trying to argue with me that zajac has been sucky and although he hasn't started his new extension yet.. if he continues to play the way he's performed he will not be worth the new extension he has gotten.. theres really no argument there so I'm done going back and forth with you.. this thread is about henrique not zajac i made one comparison in hopes that he doesn't fall off as zajac seems to have this past season... Jesus Christ some people will just argue with you to argue.. now back to henrique being that this thread is about him not zajac.

EVERY contract (over 2 years) is a gamble. I like this one, the back end of it will be sweet. no aging vet way past his prime, and whats the worst non-injury situation that can happen with him, he plays about 1.5 mil below his contract, Big deal.  I like it!

Good to hear he is locked up long term.

Over/Under on how long it takes a Ranger fan to say he will retire and play for SKA  within 3 years - 1.5 seconds

It's the fact that you worded it as if you were mad that he's not living up to a contract he's not playing under. Everyone agrees that Zajac had a sub par year last year, but that year was not played under his new deal, thus making it impossible for him to have not lived up to our expectations for that contract.

It's like saying a movie sucked before you're done seeing the previews.

It's more like saying the sequel is going to suck because part 1 wasn't very good.

Hello fellow American. This you should vote me. I leave power. Good. Thank you, thank you. If you vote me, I'm hot. What? Taxes, they'll be lower... son. The Democratic vote is the right thing to do Philadelphia, so do.
How do you spot risk? How do you avoid risk? And what makes it so risky?

thank you.. because i guess no matter how many times i try to say it its not coming out clear anough to understand. ... for all we know zajacs new contract could start and he could be awesome and everything we could hope for out of him and more.. obviously were all hoping he picks it up.. i AGAIN simply stated that so far the way that hes been performing if he continues on that slump *then he will not be* worth the terms of his extension.

Your argumentation is meaningless. Zajac signed a new contract and has not played particularly well since then. The exact date of when his new salary kicks in is obviously completely irrelevant to the point Sik02gt was making. Unless you are trying to make a case for Zajac underperforming on purpose for the duration of his previous terms.

This Zajac discussion isn't that meaningful, I think everyone knows what everyone was trying to say, so to DM I say, Swift Justice, Please!

Either way, I'm glad to see Lou betting on players when he can.  I'm hoping for a similar contract for Larsson if he does well next season, maybe with an extra year and little less money.

No reaosn not to, like w/ Nashville betting on Josi and preventing guys from getting to UFA. Guys good enough to get to the NHL probably don't need to have to "play for a contract" or anything like that so might as well just make the best bet you can, esp when you have no forwards under contract

blaaah bluh blaah!  Some of you guys are so exhausting.  I have no problem with this contract. If it's a stinker so what?  Devils are creative enough to find a way out.  If it's a low-ball then the Devils have made out like bandits while showing good faith.

you know, who cares????  Lets just like hockey and stuff and stop acting like we have some sixth sense or some special insight.  Lou is in a better position to judge than ANYONE here so you know -- just relax and...well.... stfu

I'd like to hear Patrik Elias' real thoughts on this contract or Scott Niedermayer.  Those guys were superstars on this team and didn't get this kind of treatment while UFA.  Bobby Holik has to have commented some where...

Let's just imagine they'd say how great Lou is for learning from his past mistakes and call it a day.  Dont you think they'd prefer their hockey brethren be treated more fairly rather than suffer the same under-valuing they did?  Dont you think they'd prefer all their struggles counted for something, that their past actions clearly DID have a significant effect on Lou and the Devils organization?

I honestly dont think people are as petty and self-righteous after the fact as we'd like to beleive

I don't think any of them think this has anything to do with their contract negotiations.

honestly, I think Henrique is a nice solid player and if DevMinder is correct then I think Lou has this contract slotted pretty well. I think the tricky part for us is the top 6 and where we go from here. I think it will be an interesting year.

It's a different league.  You can't just hold a player's feet to the fire.  Sure, go ahead, force Henrique into a 2 year deal worth $1.5M per season.  Then he's got 2 arbitration eligible years and then he can go where he pleases.  In addition, Lamoriello now has the money to spend this way, whereas in the late 90s he didn't.
