The Rock is absolutely horrible as drunks go. It's also one of the most hard liquor friendly buildings I've been in. It's too cheap relative to the damage it causes and the bartenders will overpour

If this really becomes a bad enough problem, they will take care of it. I haven't noticed any drunk problems personally. It's no different than any other sporting venue I go to.

It's like this in every arena. My point is, do think a simple goal song is what's gonna keep people from going to games?

"Hey man, do you wanna go to the game?"
"Hell no! They play that stupid Bon Jovi song when we score!"

If it brings the energy down, it'll make people less likely to go.   They spent all of this time building it up and now they want to deconstruct it.   You're misjudging the fanbase way too much and care way too much in addition, it's a petty thing and they should let it go.

And as for the drinks, a one shot drink at a Giants game costs a fortune.   A one shot drink at a Devils game is $8-12 and is poured straight as a two shot drink.  Because bartenders like tips.

No, but if it's so trivial, as you stated, why keep it as something that the vast majority of the building vocally detests? I don't think it's gonna people from coming but why take that chance? I literally heard someone in front of me state, and I quote, "Why would they change the song? One of the best parts of coming to a game is yelling 'you suck' at the other team after a goal. I can stay home and not yell." Now was that person really gonna not come again because of the song change? Doubtful. But what's the purpose in using a song that gets such a negative reaction? It just wouldn't make sense and I'll be shocked if it isn't changed soon.

And the elephant in the room, at least in 11-12 which was my last STH year, is that everyone was drinking for free because of the food credits.  lol.   I could only go to around 20 games so my substantial food credit was blown off on kosher hot dogs, pizzas from the restaurant, and booze

This works both ways. The goal song was such a petty thing that fans should just let it go.

The person that lets it go is normally the instigator.

Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean it should stay gone.

You know I'm a STH. I paid good money for my tickets. You have no right to tell me I can't complain, I can't say what I want and because I like R&R Part II and because I like chanting HEY YOU SUCK at another team after a goal that my opinion and my thoughts don't count because YOU and a bunch of tight wad choir boys don't feel the same way. This is a HOCKEY GAME. Go to bingo if you want "safe".

Again. Petty or not, people clearly care. They wouldn't boo if they didn't. Just because you don't think they should doesn't change the fact that they do and that alone is what necessitates that something changes. This isn't a debate over whether people should or shouldn't be worked up over something so "trivial", because it's already been made apparent that the majority of fans do care and are pissed about it, thus making your entire point invalid. The fact is if the majority of your customers are pissed about something, that means it's no longer trivial. I seriously hope for your sake that you never run a business.

There was a large number of people who did not want to celebrate to a song written by a pedophile. There was plenty of reasons to change it. There's a minority of people who are offended by the name Washington Redskins. If it's offensive, it would be of the organization's best interest to change whatever it is that's offending.

I'm offended by your username. Change it. What? Others don't feel the same way? Too bad. I do. Therefore it should be changed.

Same logic.

Well you can't tell people who didn't like the song not to complain either.

Question. Do you go to games to listen to the goal song, or do you go to watch hockey?

Clearly a good decision to cater to the small group of people that complain privately and not the large majority who is booing the change loudly and obnoxiously. Sounds like a good way to keep the arena full and build the fan base.

And to answer your question, I go for the entire experience. I can watch hockey at home, but I go to the arena for the full shebang, and the goal song is absolutely part of that.

I never said the goal song should have been changed. We don't have the right not to be offended. It's up to us to stay away from places where being offended is a possibility. I didn't like the "you suck" chant. But I still went to games. I did in fact deal with it. It was my choice to go to games and tolerate that chant. I never once went to management demanding them change the goal song.

Minority or not, there was a big enough presence on the other end of the spectrum for management to be concerned about it.

Petitions happen for those who "don't care" then I guess?

This is clearly something fans are passionate about. You should respect that instead of brushing that off. You never saw one created to change the goal song. That's the difference.

I understand our fans are very passionate about this. And I do respect that. But it still doesn't excuse their actions tonight.
