I'm talking about what you said about the only reason people were singing the song only because it was the Rags.

They could have played anything at all and people would have been excited.

They played the first bell tone from Hells Bells after the 1st and 4th goals, if I recall correctly. I wouldn't mind that becoming a thing, to be honest. Just another unique thing the Devils could do to distinguish their goal celebration.

They play the bell sound after the goal announcement. Personally, I think it sounds completely out of place and it should be removed...

I like it.  Other teams do similar things.  Coyotes have their howling noise and the Panthers have their cat noise.  I think ringing hells bells is a nice touch to be honest.

there's no way this is going to catch as much steam as it did with RR2.

I'm glad you're a psychic.

LOL. Sorry but this is too funny. Pot...kettle.

if they are gonna do the bell after the goal, they should have it correspond to the number of goals, 4 goals=4 dings

I know.  Probably has something to do with the fact I said the only reason the YS chant was hearable is because it was the Rags.  I'll own up to that as well.

That would be cool.

For our entire existence the biggest knock against our club was the lack of fans, attendance, arena atmosphere, etc...The you suck chant was a chant that organically grew and brought the majority of fans screaming in unison to taunt the opposition. It wasn't noise encouraged by the Jumbotron or some marketing campaign, but rather thru a natural enjoyment from the fans to cheer their team. And you couldn't get a chant more Jersey. Taking this away to appease a few stuck up individuals is a reminder that the club isn't for the fans.

Yup. Yes sir.

Awful. Real original "tradition" theyre starting

This.

Seven Nation Army has been played to death.  You can hear it in the background of every college football and basketball game. Played. Lame.

Yeah I thought that was good too. Imagine if the crowd counted along with the bells...

***ring*** "ONE!" ***ring*** "TWO!" ***ring*** "THREE!" ***ring*** "FOUR NOTHING!" (the whole arena)...

Makes me think of Mike Miller on the radio. "And it's THREE.............NOTHING!!!............NEW JERSEY!!!!" I know that had nothing to do with what you were talking about, but it brought that to my mind and I felt the need to type it.

The one cool thing the Thrashers used to do:  add extra little foghorn blares after the goal horn stopped, depending on how many goals had been scored.  Always liked that.

THE NHL MUST LOVE THE DEVILS - from who else? A RANGER fan!
[Mark Messier]: A big, bald attention whore with a stupid Easter Island-lookin face. - from who else? DaneykoIsGod!

Even when Marty comes back maybe Larry should put Clemmensen to be on the goal during the shootouts.
Can the coach do that ? Switch the goalies 5 seconds to go in overtime?
- Most priceless quote ever posted on a message board.

Martin Brodeur: THE MOST ALL-TIME WINS!, 12 straight seasons of 30+ wins, 3 Stanley Cups, 4 Vezina Trophies, and zero respect from too many so-called Devils "fans" who are either too young or too bandwagon to remember the much darker days of Sean Burke, Craig Billington, Bob Sauve, Alain Chevrier, and the talented but overwhelmed Chico Resch, among many others.

It's easy to support a great player when he's playing at his very best. It takes a true fan to support that same player during those rare moments and stretches when he's not. Babe Ruth went 0-4 some games, and sometimes Wayne Gretzky was held pointless. There may be such a thing as greatness, but no such thing as absolute perfection every single night.

At this point there's going to be a group of fans who are going to try to incorporate "You Suck"or some variation in any song they try.

The only way to avoid it is to use something that you can't chant to. Just a regular upbeat song, although even then I'm sure they'll find a way.

Letting the fans pick was a terrible decision. It was obviously going to be 3 generic popular sports songs. Every single sports team I support uses 7 Nation Army in one form or another. If there was a good reason for the change, the new song better be original and better be from a New Jersey artist.

There's a section somewhere in the arena that does that as a chant after every goal. I think it may have been in 208/209. At least a dozen or so people do it just like Mike Miller in that section, if I recall correctly.

They didn't let the fans pick until after management did. And management had picked a song from a NJ artist.

That just doesn't work. How many recognizable NJ musicians are there? JBJ, Springsteen, some other random bands that half the arena has probably never heard of. It's not enough of a pool of songs to work from.

there are a lot of bands out there and i am not even including rap in this list....

Skid Row

Yo La Tengo

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists

Bouncing Souls

Gaslight Anthem

Titus Andronicus

Saves the Day

Midtown

Misfits

Blues Traveler

Smithereens

Screaming Females

honestly coming to an agreement on this is pointless because everyone has different musical tastes so not everyone is going to be happy. plus we can hardly agree on who should start let alone choose a song

My argument still stands. I've heard of, out of that list, the Misfits, Blues Traveler(all of their one song anybody knows) and that's about it. I've heard of the Bouncing Souls and Gaslight Anthem, but could not name a song by either of them and I highly doubt that I'm not at least somewhat representative of the fan base here.
