If that's the corresponding move they could've just announced both things simultaneously, though they could move Harrold through waivers without having to move anything else and then have Boucher back up for Friday's game.

Would Boucher being sent down have something to do with his eligibility to play in the AHL during the olympic break? I would imagine that was part of the reason. I still doubt any kind of outside help is on the way.

The sudden "health" of the forwards probably caused the move.  14 healthy forwards would mean two scratches every night.  Might as well send Boucher down to get regular playing time, and rotate Loktionov and Josefson as the 12th forward.

With Boucher going back down, I guess we can assume the Henrique injury isn't serious.

And yeah, this probably means worthless Harrold is coming off IR. That will be you corresponding move.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or Loiktionov gets released from the mummy case and actually plays a couple games for a while.

That'll likely be the corresponding move when Harrold comes off IR.

The Devils when they publicly 'sent' Gelly down lol

but they never really sent him down...they did that to do something i forget what it was but he never even physically went to albany

Not really - the only thing Boucher has to avoid doing is playing in 16 of the Devils' last 20 games.  So if he misses 4 NJ games, he can be sent down for the break.  Thing is, he's been playing all year, so I'm not sure him playing at the break is necessarily in NJ's interest (unlike people like Gelinas and Merrill who've missed some games).

Joe Whitney's been called up. Guess he'll get a look. Well deserved.

Whitney was "active" the few times I've gotten to see him play.  The Devils tend to be a bit too passive at times so hopefully he'll bring a new dimension to whatever line he is on.

Your unconditional rejection of violence makes you smugly think of yourselves as noble, as enlightened, but in reality it is nothing less than abject moral capitulation to evil. Unconditional rejection of self-defense, because you think its a supposed surrender to violence, leaves you no resort but begging for mercy or offering appeasement.

Joe Whitney has been Albany's leading scorer each of the 3 seasons he has been there. Must have been tough staying positive as he watched so many players get called up.

Here is a list of forwards that were called up before he was:

Brad Mills

Stephane Veilleux

Steven Zalewski

Vladimir Zharkov

Tim Sestito

Rod Pelley

Stephen Gionta

Nick Palmieri

Harri Pesonen

Cam Janssen

Matt Anderson

Mike Sislo

They also looked for offense/depth by bringing in Steve Sullivan, Tom Kostoupolous, Matt D'agostini, Bobby Butler, etc.

He's just so small :(, For reference, Gionta is taller than him.

And holy sh!t I forgot we had Tom Kostoupolous, haha.

Although it's nice to give him a chance, looks like Lamoriello will be going LW shopping sometime in the future.

He wasn't signed to an NHL contract until this off-season.  Either way, a guy like Whitney has zero pedigree, didn't even have 4 good years in college, and isn't going to make it in the NHL as anything but a scoreline player, which I doubt he's good enough to be.  But it'll be interesting seeing him work with Jagr.

If Whitney plays more than 10 games or is on the roster for more than 30 days, he'll have to pass through waivers again this year.

To be fair, a good portion of those players were brought up to muck it up on the 4th line, which isn't really Whitney's game.
