How in God's name does a professional make that call? They probably lose the game but that killed any chance of doing so even if they didn't give up a goal right off the face off

As Ive said, the refs have been dreadful all season, for the devils and against the devils. Theyre consistently bad, at least.

I like to give the refs the benefit of the doubt. The game is fast, angles can be deceiving but what was he calling there... why was he calling that... why the hell doesn't the other ref or linesman go up to him and tell him he blew the call.

Right. Play horrible all game, come out like gangbusters in the 1st but not able to convert (save one goal.) and be just medicore to horrid the rest of the way.

But let's blame the loss on one call. :doh1:

If they played lights out and got screwed by that then I would see that as a vaild point but the team wasn't even average. This was awful.

THREE UNANSWERED GOALS.

Something needs to change.

He never blamed the loss on the bad call in the OP..

Simply put their effort was bad.  I think this was simply a game you throw in the garbage, and come back tomorrow night.

EXACTLY...one lousy minute remaining.  It was a bs call but wtf difference would it have made?  Detroit scoring their third goal into an empty net instead of on the PP?  Big freaking whoop.  We made the Wings look like the Scotty Bowman left wing lock with Lidstrom patroling the blueline.  We could have been there the last hour and still maybe got only two or three shots on net.

They didn't come out like gangbusters, they were darn lucky to be up 1-0.

The New Jersey Devils win Stanley Cups everywhere:
-NHL record for most road wins in the playoffs - 10-1 in '95 and 10-2 in '00
-NHL record for most home wins in the playoffs - 12-1 in '03

Listen they probably do lose the game but the key word in that is probably. As seen in the Kings game and some Devils games against us you can get a point or two even if you don't remotely deserve it. It only would have taken one lucky shot. But who knows. The fact it was such a BRUTAL CALL is what makes it so damn stupid and thus the topic.

What is a plater?

Anyway it's a bad call... Throughout the season bad calls generally even out for and against the team. It's just frustrating since it's the second game in a row a bad or missed call occurred in the final minute or so.

And the devils have scored I believe 3 goals already this season with the net empty so they should have at least had that chance.
