I wonder what the "arena takeover" entails.
“We're proud to welcome partypoker to our family as we embark on an exciting journey. As part of this partnership, co-branded assets will be built for our fans.” -O‘Neil
With online gambling being legal in NJ, I wonder if the end-game isn't to have laptops\tablet station(s) within the Fire & Ice Bar, so that you could just swipe your credit card and play. Perhaps that's why they altered the attendance capacity this season? --preparation to renovate the Fire & Ice bars into more of a PartyPoker interactive parlor lounge. If the sum of money the Devils are getting paid is that significant, PP might have grand plans within the Rock.. beyond just a couple of decals, or a sign.
Scott O‘Neil is supposedly the best in the biz at this, and it's awesome that Harris went out and got him from MSG to work on his teams and arena.
I agree. I think Scott O‘Neil is a young, savvy, talented businessman, with a clear vision on how to cultivate a brand. --and even if the long-term plan in this partnership is PP stations within the Fire\Ice lounges.. if it enhances the fans experience, then I applaud it.
No Lou Lamoriello at the podium or in camera view. Lou's days are numbered. I can't see him agreeing to this type of commercial partnership.
I don't agree that LL's days are "numbered" so-to-speak. However, I do find it extremely telling that he was absent. If this organization farts, Lou is there. Why no-show an announcement as large in scale as todays? Whether he knows the end-game to this partnership is questionable. But it's this kind of progressive thinking that now sets apart the Devils from other franchises. Bràvo Mr. O‘Neil.
