Man....I wish I could remember my first live game. Was back in the mid 80s.

My Dad used to take me to Brendan Byrne Arena all the time when I was a kid cause the company he worked for had season tickets in the lower  section. I try to remember but it was definitely close and slightly off center, maybe first 15 rows between the center and blue lines. We did Nets games too and I remember always thinking how damn tall those guys were, but Devils games were always more exciting.

My dad took me to my very first sporting event when I was 6. It was a Devils game vs the Flyers at Brendan Byrne in 1985. We lost 6-1. I think it was the final game of that season.

My uncle had season tickets on day one.   Went to opening day in 1982.   What a crappy team

My first Devils game was a 6-1 win against the Rangers at MSG on Dec.17, 2006.

First Devils home game was a 4-2 loss to the Caps at the Meadowlands on Feb. 24, 2007.

A 5-1 loss to the Flyers in 96.   :(

That was my first game as well. All I remember about it is that Hextall couldn't have looked more bored for most of that game.

playoffs 88 ithink v. the Rags, but not 100% sure...

RagS didn't make the playoffs that year,Devs knocked 'em out winning the MacLean OT Chicago game.

Played the Isles, Caps, and Bruins

My first was '85. Devs bear the Failyers. Got into it with an obnoxious Philly excuse of a fan.

Never looked back.

I think, but don't quote me on this, that the Devils only goal was scored by McKay. One thing that I always look back fondly on with that game is how many damn good hockey players I got to see play in my first game ever. Brind'Amour, Hawerchuk, Andreychuk, Housley, LeClair, Hextall, Guerin, MacLean, Nieds, Stevens, Marty...I mean, all those guys are HHOFers or borderline HHOFers. No Lindros though, I remember that much.

October 31, 1987: my dad took me to see the Devils take on the great Edmonton Oilers. Devils beat Gretzky-Messier-Kurri 5-4 that night as Alain Cheverier outdueled Grant Fuhr. My father (a passive hockey fan who would never turn down Rangers tickets but wasn't going out of his way to watch on TV) and I attended 3 other games that season.

First season, November game against Edmonton. Still have the program somewhere. We lost 5-1 but I was hooked.
I was just a kid, 9 years old but still remember being really excited to see these guys skate and play. Looking back I realize now how lucky I was to see Gretzky and crew play but I was a jersey kid and have rooted for the Devils ever since. Those days you could easily get to the lower sections, was never that full. Probably what helped hook me in.

My dad shared Flyer season tix in the late '70's up in that upper bowl. I used to go as a kid rooting for whoever was playing the Flyers then.

Gotta admit, I didn't know it at the time, but I saw some great Canadien, Islander, Capital and Ranger teams back then.

I can't remember the first game I went to but it was definitely when Muller was around the Devils.

I know the most memorable game I went to was when the Devils had Oliwa and he was sent to the box and he tried climbing over the box to fight someone

I still remember Tom Chorske breaking my heart just a few days later by scoring a back breaking goal which prevented the Devils from making the playoffs.

That was the last game of the 95/96 Season v. Ottawa.  What an underachieving year that was.

My first game was when I was 7 in 1998. Sarge scored and instantly became my favorite player.

I always wished I had gone to that very first game. I still have some newspaper clippings from it as well as the game program, which I acquired later. But I'm very happy to have gone to the second game, their first win -- versus the Rangers no less. I just wish I had saved a few newspaper clippings from that one.

I still have the season ticket brochure from that first season.

The internet is great. Apparently I saw a 22 year old Chara with the Isles.

October 14th, 2000 against the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

We won. My only memory from the game was that I was banging on the class where Gomez was standing during warm-ups. He turned around, smiled, and slapped his stick on the glass right where my face was. I'm sure most here hate the guy, but that is a memory that will stay with me forever.

I have had my share of poor Gomez experiences. However, he was always the best during warm ups (Pre-Cam Janssen). He was almost always guaranteed to flip a few pucks over the boards and engage the fans.
